Dukes Review: Somehow, an episode that has next to no General Lee in it…..is so endearing and charming it must be due to Christmas magic! In this episode they choose to re-enact the Charles Dickens classic A Christmas Carol. (FYI – everyone in Hollywood now does this. Bill Murray did it in Scrooged. Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds just did it too in Spirited. It’s on Apple + and is pretty good!). Not good enough? This is the tale of Scrooge Hogg stealing Christmas trees from Hazzard citizens and the Dukes stealing them back to deliver them in Santa suits. Not good enough? In a nod to childlike happiness, the bad guys in the episode also wear Santa suits….meaning there are 6 Santas at one time. When the bad guys in Santa suits get caught, Cletus calls them “Merry Men!” The Boars Nest is decorated, proving that Christmas decorations at dive bars make them extra cheery. Better yet, there are carols, hot chocolate, and this episode ends on a message of what Christmas is all about – unconditional forgiveness…..topped off by some jingle bells flying overhead by (possibly) a certain jolly old Elf. Rating: 10 Little Debbie Christmas Cakes!

TMCP #517: Mike Finnegan Returns – Behind the Scenes of Cleetus McFarland’s Bristol 1000!

This week marks the return of friend and listener favorite Mike Finnegan! Mike is an all around great dude, loved in the automotive entertainment industry, and was the original co-host of the Kibbe and Finnegan Podcast Show (which became Kibbe and Friends in 2019). This week marks the end of the second phase of our sister show “The Kibbe and Friends Show” where we reviewed the final episode of all 7 seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard. Since Mike helped it all begin, I asked him on to celebrate hitting the big milestone. (Kibbe and Friends isn’t going away however, now we get to go back and hit all of the early episodes that Corndog loved most….and maybe build a few more Dukes stunt cars!)

Dukes Review: Rob’s Summary…I was in 5th grade when this episode originally aired. I sadly didn’t understand it all coming to an end at that time as a kid, and now as a near 50 year old adult it seems just as hard but yet totally for different reasons. For the last six and a half years we have made a show about a show, and I for one have loved it! Anyway, enough with the sappiness. This is the final episode of the Dukes, John Schneider finally gets to write and direct something…..my High School Nova reappears one last time….and the General Lee actually gets hurt – from, a jump! The stunts are grossly limited as you’d expect from a cancelled show, but nonetheless the plot must go on. So…here’s the plot: there’s a Hazzard County talent show at the Boar’s Nest and Rosco has a magician’s act that supposedly makes Boss disappear. But when Boss actually gets kidnapped the Dukes must rescue him from two stone cold killers….so that Boss can get back in time to rescue Roscoe’s broken heart.

Dukes Review: KF friends, we are on the dawn of reviewing the final episode of the Dukes of Hazzard. We knew this day would come. The Dukes of Hazzard changed SIGNIFICANTLY over the course of 7 seasons, and so has the Kibbe and Friends show! Accordingly, and because we needed a bonus show this week anyway, here is a look back on our very edition of the KF first show – and first review of the first sever Dukes of Hazzard episode, One Armed Bandits. It’s corny, it’s weird, and it’s way different than how it it all wrapped up. Same as the KF Show. KF Show Phase 3 begins in October 2022!

Dukes Review: The classic tale. Boy pines after girl, girl thinks of him as a friend, boy saves girls life over and over again…girl thinks of him as a friend again, boy once again saves girls life, girl proposes out of guilt, boy declines out of rightful pride, then everyone decides to get married, and then boy gets hives out of a reaction to happiness. The wedding is then cancelled until the 1997 reunion show where it will be on again…until it’s canceled again. If I didn’t know better I’d say this show was going to be over soon. This is a boring episode for the most part done with little to no stunt budget, but at least there are NO miniature cars used.

Dukes Review: Orson Wells broadcast War of the World on the radio in 1938….then in the 1960’s Star Trek led to Star Wars in the 1970’s which led to ET in the early 80’s….and finally that led to this. Let’s get it over with. I know that I have been dreading this episode since we debuted this show in 2016….and I am betting that when the script for this episode leaked to the Warner Brother brass that they cancelled the series it before they even filmed this episode. That said, there’s too much negativity in this world as it is so let’s put on a happy face and enjoy what’s good!

First, there are no miniatures used in this episode for stunts (they rely on B-roll for jump footage). There are outstanding interior shots of the General Lee that will make us excited once again for tracking down the Forever Young soundstage Charger. There’s toe-tapping alien music music with a country twang. This might be the first – and only episode with graphical special effects. The power of local radio – and the local radioman standing at his post to deliver the news people need to know is displayed proudly in this episode. But what you don’t know is, this episode was the audition tape that John Schneider sent into the producers of Smallville….because this episode featured John Schneider – hiding an alien that can shoot lasers from his eyeballs – in a charming farmhouse.

There. We got through it. Together.  1 Corndog.

Dukes Review: Hughie Hogg returns with a fake Genie, a fake Magic Lamp, and a scorching case of hemorrhoids (we assume). This is a dumb episode, and for a series that started out with RV’s full of hookers being driven over county lines that became a family friendly show with a magic car, that then became a joke with imposter Dukes cousins, that then tried to put the Dream Team back together with a family friendly focus, it’s nice to end the series with a return of Hughie Hogg and his original two henchman. Again it’s dumb. Boss Hogg thinks that there is a genie in his office. A real genie. That’s all you need to know. And while there are miniature stunt….at least it isn’t of a jumping General Lee. And at the very end….the Dukes risk their lives to save the bad guy, and that’s a lesson from the Good Book any way you slice it.

K&F Show #229: The Independence Day Spectacular! – Dukes of Hazzard Review S7E13 “The Haunting of J.D. Hogg”

Presented with Holley! If you’re planning to do an EFI conversion Holley has a baffled EFI in-tank-pump equipped option ready to go for you! Remember, stock tanks meant for carburetors initially weren’t baffled, meaning a little sloshy-slosh here and there was inevitable (and for a carb with a fuel bowl, not a big deal). EFI requires a constant high pressure fuel supply, and an in-tank pump in the confines of a baffled fuel tank is the best way to go for drivability AND performance. The OEM’s have done that for 30 years!

Dukes Review: This is the first episode to release in 1985….and by this point in the show, the series was actually over. Filming had ceased. Actors were looking for new jobs. General Lee’s were sitting idly, waiting for a young Corndog to document them, knowing that there were 27 General Lee’s at the time and he stashed 8 of them for himself to find when he grew up. Tom Wopat directs the episode and – like his previous episodes – really gives fan service, interesting camera angles, and always establishes where the General is. There are no miniatures used of any kind – only recycled footage of jumps and new wrecks. At the end everyone is on scene together and happy. Rosco is over the top funny. It’s a really nice episode. White there are no new jumps, there are new stunts in it – including a big General Lee wreck that is potentially that last GL to be wrecked on screen. But I have to admit…it kind of seems like a goodbye.

K&F Show #228: #KibbeLee Father’s Day 180’s! – Summer Movie Review with Ryan Brutt “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off”

Presented with Holley! Add this to your birthday list – last Christmas Holley has just release their brand new RetroBright LED headlight packages that blend classic, sealed-beam looks with modern, LED performance. Available in multiple sizes, shapes, and color temperatures, RetroBright headlights are the perfect way to add brightness and safety to your ride, without compromising aesthetics. Best yet, RetroBright lights incorporate plug-and-play-style pig tails which easily connect to the OEM vehicle wiring harness with no cutting or splicing required. It’s an easy upgrade, adds a ton of safety and drivability to your ride, and most importantly (if we’re honest) looks super-duper cool. Also to be sure to pick up a few speed goodies for yourself at Visit Holley.com and make SURE you tell them we sent you!

Movie Review: Ferris Bueller’s Day off is the tale of one high school hero who truly had it all; looks, brains, money, friends, a smokin’ hot girlfriend, popularity, style, and panache. However, despite all of that he still lacked the two things that he needed most….a day off, and a car! This is the tale of Ferris Bueller, the 4th wall breaking, Ferrari stealing, John Hughes immortal movie hit of 1986. Like nearly every other John Hughes tale the setting of the story was the Chicago suburbs!

The Ferrari in the film is supposed to be a 1961 Ferrari 250 GT California. The insert shots of emblems and wheels really are of the genuine article, but absolutely everything else was a faker-oo Modena Spyder replica (three of them, actually). Ferrari was none too happy with this movie and sued Modena out of business. Most reports show that the Ford powered replicas were ham-fisted together, ran poorly, and broke down often. In fact our man Ryan Brutt (The Auto Archaeologist) joined in to share the tales of the man that keep the fake Ferrari’s running during the movie filming; his dad!

K&F Show #223: Corndog Give The Thumper Cam The Boot; Dukes of Hazzard S7E09 Review S7 EP9 “Cale Yarborough Comes to Hazzard”

Presented with Holley and MSD! Did you know that MSD – the most trusted name in hot rod ignition known to man – is part of Holley? Well if not…now you do! That’s right, that magical red “spark box” that was in every race car and high school hot rod you can think of has the same great quality and support of any Holley product you can think of. Visit https://www.holley.com/brands/msd/ to buy a few toys for yourself and make SURE you tell them we sent you!

Dukes Review: Cale Yarborough returns for some reason and he’s a better actor than many other guest stars! Mr. Belding (Dennis Haskins) from Saved by the Bell gets to be a star, finally! This is his third appearance on the Dukes, but first as a bad guy. More notably, and most importantly though, Al White (think “Jive Talk” from Airplane!) returns to Hazzard to play the role of another bad guy. Al White can do no wrong!  Unfortunately, even though Cal Yarborough is here….this rest of this episode only does wrong. Lotsa wrong. Lotsa horrible horrible wrong. This episode features not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 miniature General Lee stunts….and….AND….a two wheel ski stunt. I can rationalize the cost savings of not jumping real cars dammit, but putting a car up on two wheels? That’s like – $30 in tires at this point and $50 for Buzz Bundy to work his magic for 5 minutes. But, I digress.

Anyway, here’s the plot. An orphan is sick, he’s huge Cale Yarborough fan and though we’ve never ever seen him before (and we’ll never see him again) he’s super close to the Dukes and they get Cale to come and cheer him up.

These damn miniatures. Not even the awesomeness of Cale Yarborough, Mr Belding, and Al White can overcome that.
