Dukes Review: In this episode – a fake movie star played by Barry Van Dyke comes to Hazzard – a real TV show – to shoot a fake movie inside of the real TV show – and then they all go to Hollywood to a fake movie studio – that’s really the real Warner Brothers Studios – to shoot the movie as if they were in a TV show about creating a fake movie. Everyone got that?

Barry Van Dyke is someone you may know, but you definitely know his dad……none other than Dick Van Dyke, star of stage and screen, a TV show of his own name, murder mysterious, and the beloved Disney classics. Anyway, they shoot the entire episode on the real Warner Brothers backlot, and SHOW YOU the backlot. The General drives up Hollywood BLDV even. Maybe this was just a gift to we fans who knew the end was near, who know. This is a great episode – in fact so great that the second Dukes of Hazzard reunion TV movie was based on it (Hazzard in Hollywood). Corndog’s real screen used General did the jump in that episode!

K&F Show #217: Which Batmobile is the Battest; Dukes of Hazzard S7E05 Review “No More Mr. Nice Guy”

Presented with Holley! Visit Holley.com and make SURE you tell them we sent you!

Dukes Review: I like classic Dukes scripts and inside references…..and this episode has both. A classic amnesia plot device along with framing the Dukes for (insert reason here) makes this a classic tale of southern fried 1984 goodness. But in Season 7, with all of the super terrible episodes we have to deal with, this one may as well be eligible for an Emmy.

Here’s the summary: A smack talking robot that looks like a dude in a cardboard robot costume your 4 year old would make comes to Hazzard, has a southern slang name, and becomes the new Sheriff of Hazzard.

You know that story you’ve heard that During World War I, on Christmas Eve, British and German troops stopped the fighting amongst to horror of war to celebrate Christmas together, that’s what this episode is like in Season 7. Amidst the horror, we have this nice episode. The episode you knew they had in them. Sure, there are some miniatures stunts, but just a few, and there are a couple of kind good real ones, and all the great stunts are recycled from previous seasons. Yes – I know that in Season 5 they offset the suck of Coy and Vance with AMAZING stunts, but this episode…..gives me hope.

The light at the end of the tunnel might not be an oncoming train. 7 Corndogs

K&F Show #216: 2022 Daytona 500; Movie Review – Days of Thunder

Presented with Holley! Visit Holley.com and make SURE you tell them we sent you!

Movie Review: Days of Thunder! The team that brought you Top Gun, brings you Top Car – better known as Days of Thunder. Both movies feature a wildly talented but undisciplined rebel who is as awesome with driving machinery as he is with the ladies. Both feature a helmet-less motorcycle riding Tom Cruise as the lead who goes through massive success riding his own ego….until his butt can’t cash them when he gets hurt – in one case just mentally, and in the other physically. Both leave him scared to re-engage at the thing he does best…until he basically resolves it in about 20 seconds by realizing….he’d damn well better or his friends were going to die in one case, and in the other they’d just be super bummed they lost the race…and move on with life. Whatever.

Both feature a wise father figure Tom Cruise at first rejects the authority of, then later craves the leadership and approval from. Both have Val Kilmer as Iceman playing the uber talented and more successful nemesis turned friend….except in Days of Thunder it’s Michael Rooker playing Rowdy Burns, both have an amazing failure on the first try to woo the leading lady, and both have a dead goose scene…except in days of thunder it was just a bird run over by a rental car. This is the most perfect racing movie of all however, and even today still is adored by fans – and NASCAR drivers – including the current reigning NASCAR Cup Series Champion who goes by the name of Rowdy Busch…and runs number 51 on his own race cars outside of the Cup Series. This is the movie that proves to get the girls, you gotta go fast, and if you’re from California you’re not really a yankee…you’re not really from anywhere.

K&F Show #215: NASCAR Next Gen+Super Bowl+Valentine’s Day Mashup; Dukes of Hazzard S7E04 Review “Robot P. Coltrane”

Presented with Holley! Visit Holley.com and make SURE you tell them we sent you!

Dukes Review: Compared to this episode, the last episode that I gave -4 Corndogs to….was pretty good. This episode…..is the new lowest point of the Dukes of Hazzard (until we get to the episode with the short alien). Much like the American automotive industry, this episode is another example of great innovation and horrible execution.

Here’s the summary: A smack talking robot that looks like a dude in a cardboard robot costume your 4 year old would make comes to Hazzard, has a southern slang name, and becomes the new Sheriff of Hazzard.

Once again, the Dukes of Hazzard sets a future trend – which in this case is technology automating the role of the working man – but that won’t help you to avoid thinking about how much you hate what has become of your favorite TV show ever. But, if I’m honest, I can’t hate this episode….because it’s so laughably terrible. They know it. We know it. And they know that we know it. -10 Corndogs

K&F Show #214: Barrett Jackson 2022 vs Groundhog Day; Dukes of Hazzard S7E03 Review “Dr Jekyll and Mr Duke”

Presented with Holley! Visit Holley.com and make SURE you tell them we sent you!

Dukes Review: In possibly the most cost cutting episode of the Dukes of Hazzard ever seen, Luke gets ahold of some genetically altered drugs from big pharma that split his psyche into two and turn him evil and mean. How evil and mean, you ask? So evil and mean that he knocks over mailboxes, robs banks while wielding a gun, and does the worst thing ever – wears tennis shoes! But that’s not the worst of it. This may be the worst Season 7 episode gaffe so far as a miniature police car jumps – and lands – on a miniature flatbed semi trailer – loaded with miniature rubber tires – and bounces then directly upward – and forward – to land in front of and cut off the miniature General Lee. I could puke, but not a miniature one. -4 Corndogs

K&F Show #213: How-To Drift Brake Setups For Everyone! Dukes of Hazzard S7E02 Review “Welcome, Waylon Jennings”

Presented with Holley! Visit Holley.com and make SURE you tell them we sent you!

Dukes Review: The metaness of the multiverse – as now popularized in Spiderman 3 – and as categorized in the last episode – apparently came from the Dukes of Hazzard. This is the episode of the Dukes where Waylon Jennings, the real life show balladeer comes to visit Hazzard. And he does so, because he knows the Dukes. Because it turns out – this entire series – up to now – has been a real-time story telling of the Dukes to we the watching audience by Waylon Jennings. Meaning, he knows this is a TV show. And they know this is a TV show. And they know that we know that they know that this is a TV show. And before this is all said and done you’re going to learn when the song “American Pie” has a whole lot to do Waylon Jennings Tennessee based museum (from 1984) and the worlds most famous flying orange Dodge Charger!

K&F Show #210: Our 2021 Christmas Show! Movie Review: Tim Allen’s “The Santa Claus”

Presented with Holley! For some reason, this show and Holley go together like tires and smoke – a perfect fit! If that doesn’t make you want to buy an awesome speed part, nothing will! Visit Holley.com and make SURE you tell them we sent you!

Movie Review: Just when you thought you had heard every Santa origin possible….this is the one where they kill him, and could completely care less.  No one is even sad.  And apparently, we shouldn’t be either! Tim Allen goes on a movie tear in the 1990’s that’ll melt your bank account. But this one is a Christmas classic about a divorcee father that loves his kid, makes something of himself beyond just that of a wisecracking Ford Taurus SHO driver, and a North Pole that’s filled with elves played by children. Yessir, Tim Allen may just be everyone’s favorite Santa too…until he falls off a roof and is forgotten forever.

Dukes Review: As someone once said, no good deed goes unpunished. What started as a series known for its unbelievable car jumps and stunts….has just become a cost cutting mid 1980’s cash cow destined for cancellation. This episode, the very last one of Season 6, features the beginning of the end. Miniatures. Miniature buildings. Miniatures cars. Miniature jumps. No wonder they stuck this episode on a Saturday night when they thought no one was looking. It’s a shame too, because the episode itself is honestly pretty good plot, driving stunts, and features a great guest actor (Hal Williams, 227). Barf. It had to happen sometime. Christmas is ruined.

Dukes Review: We’re not going to lie, Season 6 is nearly to a close and it’s starting to get weird. There’s a fake fortune teller played by the lady from Policy Academy. There’s a little person (and they actually don’t say “midget,” thankfully). Also, Bo’s not in this episode. There’s also a 68 Charger with a REALLY terrible 69 taillight conversion. This friends, is a really odd episode with tons of sub plots, a Dodge van, and no new General Lee jumps. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Corndog’s book had a ton of details on this episode and we added a lot to our list!

K&F Show #206: David Freiburger!

Presented with Holley! For some reason, this show and Holley go together like tires and smoke – a perfect fit! FEATURE INTERVIEW with DAVID FREIBURGER: We’re as shocked as you are. Five-and-a-half years after launching this show with Mike Finnegan we have finally landed his (one time) boss, mentor, adventurer, and Roadkillinginly cool buddy David Freiburger! David has become a staple in the automotive media landscape having spent 20-plus years in print before he ever came to YouTube and Television. He just recently penned his final piece for the February 2022 edition Hot Rod Magazine and last year filmed 61 individual episodes for various shows on the Motor Trend platform (Roadkill, Roadkill Garage, Engine Masters, etc.).

In this discussion you’ll learn what we all really wanted to know about living life in the fast lane, working a seemingly endless schedule, and never getting the chance to completely finish any project. Like us, David grew up believing that 1968 and ’69 Chargers were it when it came to the all invulnerable muscle car, as powerful as it is cool looking, as desirable to others as it faithful to its owner.

He enjoyed the Chargers of The Dukes of Hazzard (and has stories to tell), Dirty Marty Crazy Larry, and others, but his favorite is the one that he and Finnegan built together: General Mayhem. If you’ve followed that car over the years you know it has gone from a motorhome powered drifting underdog to a Hellcat powered drag car. David loved the first iteration of it and he’s just recently put it back to it’s original glory.
