This weeks interview is Doug Warble with the Susquehanna Valley GTO club. They’ll be hosting the GTOAA National Meet June 26-30, 2018 Valley Forge, PA. Doug grew up around cars and when his dad purchased a GTO “parts car” his life changed to revolve around Pontiacs. He is a fountain of information and I dared to ask him about his favorite obsession.

The GTOAA was founded in 1979 by Tony Bastion for the restoration, preservation and enjoyment of GTOs. The first meet was in Indianapolis Indiana and has grown nationwide. The GTOAA now boasts 4000 members across the US. The organization recently started spot lighting the regional chapters and boosting them on the national web site and Facebook. This action has significantly increased it’s membership and should make for a great turnout at the national meet.

That aside, this move is the story if high school shy guy Layne Meyer, and his desire to win back his long lost girlfriend Beth after she dumped him for the Captain of the High School Ski Team. Along the way Layne befriends the french speaking foreign exchange girl, she fixed his awesome ’67 Camaro so he can finally defeat the Asian brothers in a drag race, and Booger from Revenge of the Nerds delivers the classic line that forever changed America, “Go that way, really fast. If something gets in your way, turn.” Oh, and the kid that wants $2 for deliver papers is in it. And so in Winchester from M*A*S*H. And a hamburger plays Eddie Van Halen’s guitar.

K&F Show #43: The Late JD Hogg – S3 Episode 5 of The Dukes of Hazzard!

Due to a hilarious medical error, Boss Hogg thinks he’s dying. He immediately realizes he’s done a ton of greedy evil things in his life, and tries to buy his way into heaven by doing “good deeds” while he can in order to avoid going to Hell. He obviously can’t do that, but it makes for good TV fun. He gives the Dukes their farm, the orphans their orphanage, and the Little League their own…league? Doesn’t matter. The shenanigans really get rolling when he finds out it was all a mistake. And there are bad guys in this one too that should be central to the story, but they really aren’t. The highlight is the cameo by Mr. Belding from “Saved By the Bell”. Solid Hijinks ensue.

Dukes Review: This show has a perfect plot. It starts out with an awesome General Lee jump, and ends with the most epic one ever…with the General going through the ROOF of a second story barn, trapping the bad guys, hurting nary a soul, and bringing the Dukes Boys back to safety. Everything that happens in between is mostly filler. So, here’s the filler: Luke gets blackmailed into boxing a legit fighter in order to pay off a debt to Boss that (if unpaid) will cost the Dukes the farm. Again. Luke doesn’t want to do it, because his was so awesome at boxing in the Marines that he nearly killed someone with his awesomeness. Uncle Jesse tells him to get himself together and either to quit or fight. Luke wins, his alter ego somehow ends up dates the ring girl of the fight, humanity is saved, and the General jumps. Hijinks ensue.

K&F Show #26: Follow That Still – S2 Episode 15 of The Dukes of Hazzard!

The Dukes help an habitually-making-moonshine-but-constantly-getting-caught friend of Uncle Jesse’s by the name of “Hard Luck” after he steals Boss Hogg’s new tank. Technically I guess it’s an “APC” and not a tank, but who cares. It shoots stuff and drives on tracks. Anyway, Boss bought the tank to hide stolen cigarettes in as a place to resell them from. Hard Luck steals the tank to make his moonshine inside of it, thereby giving him a portable manufacturing facility that will be hard to catch by the Feds. As you may have guessed, he didn’t know about the contraband cigs, the tank breaks down on the Dukes land, and the world will come to an untimely end unless they get rid of the evidence. There’s not enough General Lee action in this one for our taste, but it’s still good fun. Hijinks ensue.

K&F Show #15: The Great Santa Claus Chase – S3 Episode 9 of The Dukes of Hazzard!

So, you may have noticed that we’re reviewing this episode out of order. We had to. It’s Christmas time and through the entire 7-season run of the Dukes of Hazzard they only made one Christmas show. If it helps, we also covered Die Hard (a great Christmas movie) in this podcast too.

In this episode: the Dukes save Christmas by stealing a truckload of Christmas trees back from Boss Hogg (that he initially stole from them) and deliver them to the good people of Hazzard, all on Christmas Eve. To keep Boss and the real bad guys confused, Bo, Luke, and Cooter all dress as Santa Claus and deliver trees using identical Ford long bed trucks all going in different directions with as much zaniness as possible. To add to the mix, the 3 crooks are also dressed as St. Nick making for a total of 6 wacky Santas. After the crooks are foiled Boss and Rosco spend Christmas Eve sharing gifts and singing carols with the Dukes. The General jumps a loaded car carrier. Santa Claus is heard doing a low fly-by over the farm. Hijinks ensue.

K&F Show #14: The Meeting – S2 Episode 4 of The Dukes of Hazzard!

The mob shows up. The freaking mob. Why? Because they need a place for all of the crime bosses to meet – and they know through previous moonshine dealings that Boss Hogg will give them cover to do so. They claim to be working on their new project – a toy company product – but are really there to take back from their sons their old businesses of gun running, gambling, prostitution, and all sort of tomfoolery. The Dukes find the guns, decide to intervene to save the general public, and defeat the mob without a hitch by trapping them in a net that (somehow) thwarts off bullets. The mobsters all wear pinstripe suits. The General Lee jumps (twice). Daisy fakes skinny dipping. Hijinks ensue.

K&F Show #13: The Rustlers – S2 Episode 3 of The Dukes of Hazzard!

The Dukes help some super poor neighbors get their super-secret and uber fast horse entered into a race. If they win the race the massive amount of proceeds will solve all of their worldly problems (crushing mortgage stress, morning breath, etc.). The catch? The race has been commissioned by Boss Hogg who will for numerous reasons attempt to screw everyone out of happiness so that he may pad his own pockets. Even zanier is when out-ot-town horse thieves get into the mix too. The General races a horse (General wins). Boss mocks his wife’s weight. Hijinks ensue.
