TMCP #451: Rhine Built; Bill Rhine on Restoring Track Used NASCAR Cars from the 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s!
This week I had the great privilege to talk with Bill Rhine, owner and founder of Rhine Enterprises. If you LOVE watching vintage stock cars, love the history of NASCAR, and LOVE the idea of restoring and racing vintage stock cars….this is the episode you’ve been waiting for. Bill has NASCAR racing in his blood and may love the sport more than he entire France family combined!
TMCP #439: The FUTURE of PRI Double! – Dr. Jamie Meyer, The Future of PRI – Brad Loyet, How an Injury Turned him from Racer to Manufacturer
Racers, this one is for you! This week I had the pleasure of not one, but TWO interviews and both around the topic of PRI (Performance Racing Industry). The first was Dr Jamie Meyer and his amazing, surreal journey from Doctor of Medicine to Doctor of Performance at General Motors, and now on to leading the largest racing organization. The second interview is with Brad Loyet who runs BP Fabrication and makes racing parts that could be seen during the PRI trade show……but neither interview was booked knowing the other was coming. They could not be more aligned.
TMCP #437: Byron Burnham’s 1976 Chevy “IMSA” Vega….Driven By Santa Claus – Pro-Touring Update, With Larry Callahan?
This weeks interview with Mr Byron Burnham, a well rounded individual with a very jolly disposition and a penchant for Chevy Vegas! His “IMSA” inspired ’76 Vega is a standout at every event..but that’s only a part of Byron’s M.O. By summers, he’s a race car driver with a fast sled that’s the only one of it’s kind. By winters….same story, but a different sled!
This week is a very special show marking a huge milestone for the Pro-Touring.com web site. It has been twenty years, this March, since Larry created the first launch the infamous site. It pre-dates nearly all of social media (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook) and even most forums! Thanks to Larry, many thousand people have visited to gain knowledge regarding go-fast-old-cars and share friendships over racing and “G’s”. Events and businesses have formed ENTIRELY around the Pro-Touring movement and the trend of Pro-Touring cars has become as mainstream as apple pie and kids taking selfies. I believe that Larry Callahan deserves the bulk of the credit for tossing gasoline on a match – and for fostering a place to take this industry from nothing to SOMETHING! This interview was a look book at how it all began.
Yes, Holley is the official EFI source for The MuscleCar Place Network! If that’s not enough, they have just announced that with the help of Prestige Motorsports, Dart, and TorqStorm, they’ve concocted a 427 cubic inch, twin-supercharged combo that is capable of sending absurd levels of good old-fashioned V8 horsepower to the pavement! The parts alone are over $20K – and all you need to do to have a shot at it is to enter the contest! Here’s the link. Go get it! https://bit.ly/KAFS-Holley-LS-Sweepstakes.
You can ALSO set up a profile for your ride in the Holley My Garage section on their website. It’s kinda like Facebook…but from your car’s perspective! Using our link helps us out BIG time! https://bit.ly/KAFS-Holley-MyGarage
TMCP #423: Kate Licitra, Vet Speed Racing, Racing ‘Vettes to Help Our Vets!! – Ask Rick, Does Win on Sunday Sell on Monday Still Work?
This weeks guest is Kate Licitra, the founder and President of Vet Speed Racing, a 501c3 non profit group that uses Corvettes and racing to help alleviate PTSD. After her former military husband started to show symptoms of traumatic brain injury and Post traumatic stress disorder she knew that she had to do something. After they sold a house, she was able to purchased a Corvette as a bonus for a little track day fun, she noticed his illness started to ease a little. The release that came with the speed and “racing therapy” really helped and she knew she was on to something that she had to share with other vets.
Holley is the official EFI source for Kibbe and Friends and is the PROUD sponsor of this episode! This episode features the full recap of the entire Terminator Stealth install on #KibbeLee at Cody Crafted in Burleson, TX. The system is on, it works, the car runs, nothing leaks, and we’re ready to do some fine tuning!
We need your help! We’re working with Holley on future things to do with the show….and we really need to know where you live and what you drive. Could you please fill out this super-duper easy four question survey for us? It would REALLY help move the ball forward for the future initiatives we have planned together. http://bit.ly/TMCP_Podcast_Survey
Movie Review – Days of Thunder! Since the Daytona 500 is right around the corner we knew it was time to do what needed to be done: review Days of Thunder! The team that brought you Top Gun, brings you Top Car – better known as Days of Thunder. Both movies feature a wildly talented but undisciplined rebel who is as awesome with driving machinery as he is with the ladies. Both feature a helmet-less motorcycle riding Tom Cruise as the lead who goes through massive success riding his own ego….until his butt can’t cash them. This is the movie that proves to get the girls, you gotta go fast, and if you’re from California you’re not really a yankee…you’re not really from anywhere.

TMCP #406: Jordan Zlotoff – The Amazing M1 Concourse in Motor City; The Pro-Touring Update with Larry Callahan
This weeks show is with Jordan Zlotoff, the Chief Executive Officer of the M1 Concourse in Pontiac Michigan. Perhaps just a few years ago not many people had heard of the M1. Today however, times have changed! Thanks to a multiple great events and it’s strategic placement near the automotive capital of the world, the M1 is gaining international attention. We were onsite at the recent (and massive) Roadkill nights event there as mentioned in Episode 403. Jordan is leading the way on the high visibility of this fantastic place and I wanted to find out more about it.
TMCP #402: From Architecture to Race Teams to Hot Rods – Cody Young’s Amazing Hot Rod Shop Journey; Now Adding Holley Fuel Injection to the Kibbe Lee!
This weeks show is with Cody Young, owner and operator of Cody Crafted specialty shop. Cody grew up with a passion for cars and speed, which led him into racing and building race cars. He traveled around and did some wrenching or sales as well as stand in racing for some teams. After years of living life in the fast lane, it was time to settle down and pick a reliable job to support his family. Cody started working in a dealership and after a few years there, he realized that the Saturday hours were causing him to miss his boys growing up. His realization that life was slipping through his fingers, he knew it was time to start his own business so he could call the shots. After working in a fab shop, to learn how to do the work, he started Cody Crafted and is able to spend time with family while still building vehicles that fire his passion.
Check out Episode 359 where I talked to Jeff Teel from Holley regarding the Terminator Stealth fuel injection system. This system looks like the old school Holley carb just like what was used on the General Lee. I have been talking about installing this injection system since even before the Kibbe Lee was purchased. Cody, being the consummate listener, noticed that I had a lot going on and he thought that this is his time to step up and lend a hand. He has installed a few different injection systems in various cars and trucks and knew that he could help out with a little expertise. I greatly appreciate the offer to help and thought I should have him on the show to learn more about CodyCrafted.
If you would like to know more about Cody and what CodyCrafted can do for you, check out his page at CodyCrafted.com or on Instagram.com/codycrafted. You can keep up with the latest happenings on Facebook.com/CodyCrafted.
TMCP 393: Jo Coddington: Women in Racing and Hot Rods, Promoting Automotive Products, and Life with Boyd Coddington on and off of TV!
This week I spoke to Jo Coddington, racer, car enthusiast, TV celebrity, and Motorsports spokesperson. She became a household name along with her husband Boyd Coddingon on the television show American Hot Rod, but that was not at all where she really gained her start in the industry. Jo was born in Woodvine Iowa, but grew up “out west” in Phoenix Arizona due to allergies that had no known cure at the time. She was raised in a racing family and after graduating from a go kart, she moved into dirt sports. Jo tells the story of her dad not allowing her to come home until she had rebuilt the race engine she had blown up. She worked on it at a friends garage and thought she could talk him into fixing it, but he was in on the plan with her dad. Years later Jo admits that making her build that engine just reinforced her desire to be involved and could not keep her out of the garage.
TMCP #382: “Small” Front Tire Cars Have a Shot Again! Ed Capen on The New Rules Changes for the 2019 Good Guys Autocross!
This weeks interview is with Ed Capen, Vice President, Sales and Sponsorships for Good-guys Rod & Custom Association to talk about the new rules for the 2019 racing season. Ed has been on the show previously and we got straight into the rules. Good-guys is first and foremost a car show with an Autocross added on. The customer is the car show attendee and the goal is to make it fun and so that car owners do not have to build their cars specifically for this race series.
The new rules are very exciting and make it possible for a normal or slightly modified classic car owner to be able to compete against other similar vehicles. Classes such as Pro-X now exist but the massive tire, super lightweight, race specific cars are not competing against Joe Normal’s heavy car with smaller tires.
