Welcome from the Charlotte, Race City USA!

The High Performance Expo was a big success, and the Kibbe Boys (i.e. Rob and Dallas) got the chance to take in even MOR than just the High Performance Expo itself. Thanks to NHRA Superstar Clay Millicaon and KAFS Show Super Stud Listener (and Hendrick Motorsports employee) Austin Darling we got to visit not one, but TWO NASCAR Shops; Rick Ware Racing thanks to Clay, and Hendrick thanks to Austin! Both were outstanding experiences to get a true inside look at the craft, business, tech, and reality of a NASCAR life.

At Hendrick we even got the chance to attend a Bible lesson over lunch AND visit Rick Hendrick’s personal car and memorabilia collections. It was nothing short of unbelievable! Austin surprised us with his ’68 Newport sitting out front of Hendrick Motorsports, complete with a 440, A/C, steelies, and a tribute name of “Sweet Tilly” in honor of Uncle Jesse’s Dukes of Hazzard Season 1 moonshine car. You can follow him on Instagram via @pawpaws_speedshop and on YouTube at Paw Paw’s Speedshop as well. .

For a full recap (and 2 hour bonus show special) from the High Performance Expo be sure to listen to The MuscleCar Place Episode 612.

Docuseries Discussion: Earnhardt

Series Summary: We’re doing a double header in this episode as we continue our “Month of Racing” for June 2025. To cut to the chase, if you haven’t seen the new Dale Earnhardt docuseries on Amazon Prime yet….you need to. It’s an in redible production detailing the true life and drive of Dale Earnhardt, success, flaws, and all. It’s told through the eyes of Darrell Waltrip, Dale’s racing competitors, and especially his children; Kerry, Dale Jr, and Kelly (his 4th child Taylor is not onscreen).

It’s a remarkable series, and while you’ll leave with respect and awe for the man on the track….you’ll have a true lump in your throat about how he lived in life, and what he lived it for.

This is not a paid endorsement or review at all, nor is this an affiliate link. This is just our honest take on what is (in our opinion) an outstanding series and worth your money and time! Enjoy. Here’s the link!

Movie Review: Stroker Ace

In June of 2025 we are doing our Month of Racing! We originally reviewed the Burt Reynolds Classic “Stroker Ace” in Episodes 117 and 118 as well as the month end Patreon show in July of 2019. Enjoy!

Movie Summary: This is it! After waiting years to prepare we finally did a full review of the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie. This was a $50Million dollar big screen production of our favorite TV show, featuring our favorite car doing the best big screen performance any car has ever performed, ever (we’re looking your way, Bullitt).

Other than the car…..this isn’t the TV series Dukes that you know. Boss Hogg (played by Burt Reynolds) is skinny. Rosco is mean, not goofy. Bo is scared of women. Luke can’t drive. Uncle Jesse is crass. But….if you can get past all of that and leave it for what it is, we loved it. Our man Corndog was onsite for the entire filming of the movie in Louisiana and had the full skinny on every car there that played the General Lee (all 27 of them).

TMCP #555: THE Pro-Touring Update with Larry Callahan – SEMA 2023 Preview – Pro-Touring Dinner – Ron Francis Goes To The OPTIMA Ultimate Street Car Invitational,

It’s once again is the quarterly Pro-Touring Update, Presented by Ron Francis Wiring, and starring Mr. Larry Callahan! Technically this is the 3rd quarter update, but with the schedules of events (and the possibility of something special in the first weekend of Oct) we needed to push it back a couple of weeks. I’m happy to say that the gamble was worth it! The focus of this update – as always – is to stay on the inside scoop of what is going on with Larry and The Pro-Touring community as well as getting the inside scoop on upcoming Pro-Touring (autocross) events for the end of 2023!

TMCP #498: Larry Callahan – Pro-Touring Update, New Autocross Events – SEMA Low-Volume Manufacturers Act Has Been Enacted!

Spring is just around the corner and that means it is finally time for a new Pro-Touring Update with Mr. Larry Callahan! It has been six months since our last full update and it is very good to talk and catch up. He let me know that big things are changing but not with the website or his cars. Larry is moving! He found a house with land for his wife to grow animals and plants as well as the added benefit of room for a hoist and room for cars. He figures he can lift a full size truck over his head and save himself the pain of crawling on the floor to work on cars. I asked if this was going to affect the website due to moving the servers and he settled that real quick by clarifying that the server was never at his house and in the hands of a professional service.

TMCP #437: Byron Burnham’s 1976 Chevy “IMSA” Vega….Driven By Santa Claus – Pro-Touring Update, With Larry Callahan?

This weeks interview with Mr Byron Burnham, a well rounded individual with a very jolly disposition and a penchant for Chevy Vegas! His “IMSA” inspired ’76 Vega is a standout at every event..but that’s only a part of Byron’s M.O. By summers, he’s a race car driver with a fast sled that’s the only one of it’s kind. By winters….same story, but a different sled!

TMCP #425: Larry Callahan – Twenty Years of Pro-Touring.com and Helping Make Old Cars Go Very Fast!

This week is a very special show marking a huge milestone for the Pro-Touring.com web site. It has been twenty years, this March, since Larry created the first launch the infamous site. It pre-dates nearly all of social media (Instagram, YouTube, Facebook) and even most forums! Thanks to Larry, many thousand people have visited to gain knowledge regarding go-fast-old-cars and share friendships over racing and “G’s”. Events and businesses have formed ENTIRELY around the Pro-Touring movement and the trend of Pro-Touring cars has become as mainstream as apple pie and kids taking selfies. I believe that Larry Callahan deserves the bulk of the credit for tossing gasoline on a match – and for fostering a place to take this industry from nothing to SOMETHING! This interview was a look book at how it all began.

Yes, Holley is the official EFI source for The MuscleCar Place Network! If that’s not enough, they have just announced that with the help of Prestige Motorsports, Dart, and TorqStorm, they’ve concocted a 427 cubic inch, twin-supercharged combo that is capable of sending absurd levels of good old-fashioned V8 horsepower to the pavement! The parts alone are over $20K – and all you need to do to have a shot at it is to enter the contest! Here’s the link. Go get it! https://bit.ly/KAFS-Holley-LS-Sweepstakes.

You can ALSO set up a profile for your ride in the Holley My Garage section on their website. It’s kinda like Facebook…but from your car’s perspective! Using our link helps us out BIG time! https://bit.ly/KAFS-Holley-MyGarage

TMCP #394: Mike Paul: Liquidating a Massive Buick, Olds, Pontiac Collection of Documented Rare Cars Needing Restoration – Pro-Touring Update with Larry Callahan

Liquidating a huge collection of Buick, Olds, and Pontiacs:

This week our guest was Mike Paul, the host of the Motor Madhouse Podcast and life long muscle car fanatic. His love of cars goes back to his upbringing and he has learned a lot from his father where he helped him curate a collected of Buick, Olds, and Pontiac muscle cars that were all well documented (and rare enough) to warrant a restoration. Many have highly rare option combinations, or in one case ONLY go fast options and nothing else. Mike told the details and gives some history on some of the cars which was fascinating on many levels. While they did have the chance to restore many cars, but there’s only so much time in life and the reality was they’d never see them all done. This discussion is all about liquidating the collection and moving them on to new homes!
