Quitters Day, Bad Habits,
and Why There’s a RaceCar
in My Spare Room

Welcome to Episode 353 of The Kibbe & Friends Show — and yes, this is the second show of 2026, which means we’re officially back into the routine of doing what we do best: talking cars, talking nonsense, and occasionally learning something by accident. Early on we get into “Quitters Day” (the second Friday in January when New Year’s resolutions go to die), and then—because this is apparently who we are now—we start ranking the fittest and fattiest states in the country. It’s dumb, it’s funny, and it’s exactly the kind of early-year banter that makes you feel better about whatever goals you’ve already abandoned… or never started. Corndog’s approach remains undefeated: don’t make resolutions, and you can’t fail them.

From there, I take you into my newest obsession: building a legit racing sim rig at home. Not a “gaming chair and a controller” setup — I mean a full cockpit-style rig with real force-feedback equipment, a real seat, and a real steering wheel… pulled from Dallas’s wrecked race car. And because I’m apparently trying to turn our house into a testing lab, I also added the most hilarious and amazing upgrade ever: a seat-mounted vibration unit so when you hit rumble strips, you feel it in your entire soul. It’s a test of patience to assemble (ask me how many times I rebuilt parts because the instructions might as well have been written by aliens), but when it’s done, it’s going to be a full-on race car experience in a spare room.

The Dukes Of Hazzard – Episode Review:
“Daisy’s Song”

The Dukes of Hazzard review, now available on YouTube while the full audio show is still exactly what it’s always been — a podcast you can actually download like it’s 2006 and we still have dignity. This week we’re reviewing Season 1, Episode 2: “Daisy’s Song” — one of the early Georgia episodes — and in my opinion, one of the most unique episodes in the entire Dukes universe. It originally aired February 2, 1979, and it’s a perfect reminder of why the Georgia episodes feel different: they’re gritty, they’re a little weird, and the show is still figuring out what it wants to be… in the best way possible.

Here’s the setup: Daisy finds out a song she wrote has been recorded — but she never got paid. What starts as a $50 publishing “opportunity” turns into a full-blown record piracy operation out of Atlanta. Bo and Luke go to investigate, and of course it turns into an undercover mission where Daisy plays the part of an aspiring singer while the boys try to shut down a scam that’s stealing people’s dreams. It’s one of the rare episodes where the story is both goofy and legitimately clever, and somehow it still works. And because it’s Dukes, Boss Hogg is behind the entire thing trying to rub elbows with organized crime like he’s auditioning for the mob.

Automotive-wise, this episode is loaded. This is one of the biggest “lore” episodes in the whole series because it gives us the explanation we all needed one time and never again: the General Lee is their racing car, and race car doors are welded shut — that’s why they climb in and out the windows. Boom. Done. Also, we get multiple Generals on-screen, including Lee 2 and Lee 3, plus a freshly converted 1968 Charger that barely had time to get the “01” slapped on it (and only on one side!). Corndog brings the deep cuts here — roll bars in some scenes, missing in others, stickers in the windshield, smoothed side markers, interior details… the man is a walking Dukes encyclopedia and I’m just trying to keep up.

And then there’s Daisy’s Roadrunner — which, if you’re a Corndog-level nerd (and we are), is basically its own character. This episode gives it serious screen time, and Corndog is out here spotting everything: tires, plates, bumper stickers, partial paint details, missing CB antennas, even a Florida inspection sticker that would’ve expired in May of 1979. I love this stuff because it proves what we already know: the magic of early Dukes is that it was made fast and real and slightly chaotic — and those little “mistakes” and continuity weirdnesses are part of why we love it.

Bottom line: this episode is a banger. It’s got Daisy chasing her dream, Bo and Luke fighting corruption, Boss Hogg being Boss Hogg, and the General Lee and Roadrunner both getting their moment to shine. It’s weird, it’s fun, it answers big questions, and it has that Georgia-season flavor that makes the whole thing feel more grounded and more “Smokey and the Bandit” than what the show becomes later. Final score from all of us: a unanimous 10 out of 10 — and honestly, it deserves it.
