Dukes Review: For the record, we chose this episode because Corndog wants to pile on that CEO and that HR lady that have made infidelity the most popular public shaming event since the invention of the internet Meme. We also learn that the P in Rosco P Coltraine stands for Pervis.
This episode starts with an upside down smashed GL….and just gets better. Rosco p Coltrane gets the CEO Treatment by a well built mail order bride, and it’s the oldest trick in the book: young woman with a husband and crony convince a Sheriff to get him out of the way so Boss Hogg can be conveniently robbed while everyone is attending a wedding.
In the midst we see the General get totalled, untotalled, retotalled, untotaled, and then retotaled again (only to then be replaced by a horse). The sloppiness of automotive continuity in this episode is awful, and that’s what makes it so right – plus the stunts are off the chart. Oh, and the saying The Lord Helps Those That Help Themselves…..that’s not actually in the Bible. Might be in the US Constitution though. Or possibly National Treasure.

Movie Review: “F1” (The Brad Pitt Movie!)
I don’t know a thing about F1, but if this movie does for F1 what Days of Thunder did for NASCAR, an entire generation of kids are about to dream about being the next Sonny Hayes. And just like Days of Thunder was Top Gun on Wheels, F1 is Top Gun Maverick on…more expensive wheels!
Brad Pitt plays Sonny Hayes – an aging multi series vagabond driver who lives for the thrill of driving and the hope that on the track he can feel God’s pleasure upon him. (He didn’t say it that way in the movie but that was the gist of it.) As a kid he was coming into Formula 1 when he had a devastating accident. It cost him his future to be the next Senna. He went to drinking spiral, bad marriages, then driving taxis, and then found his way into any racing series that would have him and let him try to tame it. And they all did. Sports cars, NASCAR, Off Road, and now F1.
His job in this movie, to get a young hot shot up to speed and save the rag tag racing team they’re all there with to save their jobs. It’s predictable, it’s beautiful, it’s fun, and it’s fast. In a nutshell: awesome.

Reeces Challenge:
We did the Reeces Challenge in this one to determine once and for all which Reeces Easter peanut-butter-and-chocolate product is the best. We did. We had guests as well. Then we alsmost threw up. Conclusion: the regular Reece’s Egg is the best of all time (even the regular peanut butter cup).
Dukes Review:
Bo and Luke intercept some stolen diamonds. The leader of the crime ring fakes her identity as a newspaper reporter and the then hilarity ensues…..as the diamonds are pursued by Boss Hogg and Rosco – and hidden – without their knowledge – with Boss and Rosco, and then the diamonds are turned over to the FBI…..but it’s not the real FBI, it’s the fake FBI. But then Bo and Luke get them back. Everybody got that? In the meantime we get one more childlike fun where Rosco asks Boss to play with a Bugs Bunny doll and Cletus is sent to fetch 7 Corndogs for lunch, 1 for Rosco and 6 for Boss, and line that defines the Dukes of Hazzard that made every kid my age believe that a real stud of a man didn’t throw footballs or play golf – they drove cars fast. 10 Dogs.

Also covered: Bernie on the News, January Celebrity Automotive Birthdays, and a review of the second episode of Tim Allen’s new ABC car-themed sitcom: Shifting Gears.
Dukes of Hazzard Episode Review:
This episode has everything. Small pushbar Generals, egregious use of the concept of amnesia, Voice impersonation as good – or better than – AI, and a clearly directed passenger side entry of the General by Daisy that doesn’t seem helpful in any way…..other than for where the camera was placed if you get by gist. Bo gets amnesia by hitting his head on a rock. In turn Boss convinces him that he is his loving father, and that be needs Bo to be a good son and drive a load of moonshine through Chickasaw county. What’s unbeknownst to Bo but knownst to us that Sheriff Little is there waiting for him….because he hates moonshiners. This is a fun episode where there’s no point, there’s no lesson, and there’s no dramatic acting – in any way; it’s just just pure automotive escapism.

K&F Show Summary:
2025 is here! We’re kicking things off with a look at what we’re in for this year, Bernie on the News, and a look at Tim Allen’s new ABC car-themed sitcom: Shifting Gears. We’re going to add it to the pop culture review!
Dukes Review: This is the first episode to release in 1985 and was (as of right now) exactly 40 years ago! By this point in the show the series was actually over. Filming had ceased. Actors were looking for new jobs. General Lee’s were sitting idly, waiting for a young Corndog to document them, knowing that there were 27 General Lee’s at the time and he stashed 8 of them for himself to find when he grew up. Tom Wopat directs the episode and – like his previous episodes – really gives fan service, interesting camera angles, and always establishes where the General is. There are no miniatures used of any kind – only recycled footage of jumps and new wrecks. At the end everyone is on scene together and happy. Rosco is over the top funny. It’s a really nice episode. White there are no new jumps, there are new stunts in it – including a big General Lee wreck that is potentially that last GL to be wrecked on screen. But I have to admit…it kind of seems like a goodbye.

Roadkill – Finale
As you have heard already the rumors circulating the closing of Motor Trend Productions are all true. Unfortunately the shows housed and produced by Motor Trend are no more. This does include “Roadkill,” its flagship and genre changing show. It’s a bi-product of being owned by a large conglomerate as well as being a niche of a niche of entertainment media. All episodes filmed not yet released will be aired over the winter of 2025/2025 but no further will be created.
We discussed the news of it all and and some point we’ll have Mike Finnegan our friend (and Kibbe and Finnegan show co-founder) on to chat about it. No matter what spin you put on it the reality of Roadkill both creating and changing the automotive space are complexly undeniable. David Frieburger and Mike Finnegan made a team that were the best of the best in automotive tom-foolery entertainment. We loved them too!
David Freiburger has given a good explanation the situation along with what’s next for the full band of Motor Trend characters (visit TheDrive.com for more on that). While none of us know whether Roadkill will ever return on a different platform, it does seem like the sun has set on it and this last piece of legacy automotive media is officially over. In the short term we know that everyone has moved on to YouTube (if they hadn’t already) and we can continue to have them in our lives there!

Thanksgiving Movie Review: “Tower Heist”
K&F Movie Summary: Tower Heist is the automotive Thanksgiving movie classic you didn’t know you were missing until now, especially if you’re Corndog! This movie stars a MASSIVE cadre os actors including Ben Stiller, Eddie Murphy, Alan Alda, Casey Afflect, Tea Leoni, Mechael Pena, and Matthew Broderick. This is the tale of a group of not quite as cool as Oceans 11 people that get taken by a Ponzi scheme by Hawkeye from MASH. And then – to get their money back – they steal Steve McQueen’s Ferrari from the top of Trump Tower during the Thanksgiving Parade, all using a handy roof crane. You will laugh, you will squirm, and you will probably be looking up during the Thanksgiving Day Parade from here on out…..so you don’t get squished by a Ferrari made of gold. This movie is a forgotten gem that has everything going for it.

Two bad guys steal Mr. Belding’s (from Saved be the Bell) car and then heist a U.S. Mail truck full of little-old-ladies Social Security checks. But that’s not important right now, because this is the episode were we discuss the eternal question: if you believe in heaven, can you buy or earn your way in? Well Boss believes in heaven…and when he mistakenly is told he’s dying, but tries to right all of his wrongs by doing good deeds to earn his salvation. And when he finds out he isn’t dying later, he takes all of his good deeds back. There aren’t a lot of stunts in this episode…..but there’s a LOT to discuss. This may be the most morality questioning episode of the Dukes that’s ever been made!
