Dukes Review – S4E1: “Mrs. Daisy Hogg”
In our last show Finnegan got what he had always wanted: A review of Two Lane Blacktop. This time, it’s Kibbe’s turn for joy filled senselessness; a Star Trek Next Generation crossover episode with the Dukes! Well, not quite that, but close-ish. This is the first episode of Season 4 of the Dukes of Hazzard and the guest star is none other than Johanthan Frakes, Commander Riker himself. Commander Riker plays the part of a nephew to Boss Hogg, and as a Hogg relative Commander Riker must steal and connive his way through life. It’s in his blood. Anyway, he fulfills his Star Fleet destiny by counterfeiting money, putting it into boxes of “grits”, and then falling into love with Daisy Duke and getting her to marry him to avoid the eventual damning legal testimony issue he’ll have in court when he gets caught. It fails, Daisy is shunned, the General Lee jumps, and Riker gets beamed back up to the Enterprise (not true, but wouldn’t have that been super awesome)?

Corndog’s Insider Dukes of Hazzard Episode Specific Nerd Trivia:
Not much to report on this episode, as there really wasn’t much as far as stunts go. Just another episode where Daisy falls head over heels for a random out-of-town guy who she just met. This is Jonathan Frakes’ only appearance on the Dukes, and being the Star Trek nut that you are… I’m sure you will remember this this episode well. I never really was all that big on Star Trek though.
There were a couple General Lee and police car jumps and a pipe ramp jump. It wouldn’t surprise me if most of this was recycled footage or just different camera angles of previous jumps.
31:13 – When the news started to spread around town about Daisy marrying a Hogg, a lot of the stunt crew can be seen. Stuntman Henry Kengi is riding the bicycle when stuntwomen Kay Kimler (Daisy’s Stunt Double) shouts down from the balcony to tell him the news… which causes Henry to crash into the shrubs.
34:48 – When Bo and Luke pull up to the Grits Mill, The General Lee is a ’69 model with one wheel open molding on the front, but missing the trim on the rear wheel well. But, the main reason I am pointing out this screen shot… this is the first time we see the CB antenna away from the leading edge of the decklid. A hole was drilled and the antenna was mounted to it. This would be how the antennas were mounted when WB started building the cars in-house. This could also be a sign of the beginning of the Ken Fritz Era of the cars.
All in all, this was an okay episode… I give it a 7/10

Dream Board Update: Goals to Accomplish Before Episode 200
1. Get Diet Coke to Sponsor us….or just Kibbe. FAILED
2. Be characters in the Disney/Pixar movie, Cars 3. Finnegan is the General. Kibbe…is wishing he was the General. FAILED.
3. Syndicate the show onto TV and radio, having awesome guests in studio, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on regularly to be our best friend.
4. Get John Schneider himself on the show with us. Pray to God he actually likes us and isn’t freaked out. FAILED
5. Blow up the podcast so that it becomes a regular weekly show, interviewing celebrities, and actually providing a living for us capable of allowing us to race cars anytime we want plus let our wives get the shoes they like.
6. Get our own studio.
7. We each get a General Lee (real car – not a toy). Kibbe has one!
8. Get a Voiceover Guy to announce the segments.
9. Jump a car together. Kibbe wants to go 30-feet vertical.
10. Make a Dream GL that is based off of a 1973 NASCAR Charger (like the 1/16th scale AMT model)
11. Kibbe needs a new wallet to replace his “George Costanza”.
12. Mike to get a new truck for legit towing. DONE!
