Spring Break, Story Time, and Road Trips

Episode 359 opens the way most Kibbe & Friends shows do — a little loose, a little chaotic, and definitely not over-prepared. Recording on a Sunday immediately throws off our normal rhythm, and within moments we’re deep into the universal debate about what people actually mean when they say “this week” versus “next week.” Somehow a simple calendar question turns into comedy.

From there the conversation shifts into real-life updates. Corndog is temporarily holding down the fort while part of his family is off in Spain on a senior trip, while I’m getting ready for a 25th anniversary trip to Kauai — which sounds fancy until you realize the cheap airfare requires driving to Chicago first. Bernie checks in with his usual mix of dry humor, travel plans, and updates from his ongoing broken-bone adventures.

The talk eventually finds its way back to cars, as it always does. Spring is around the corner, which means garage projects are starting to pile up. That leads into a bench-racing session about air-cooled Volkswagens, Mopar parts cars, and the reality of collecting rare pieces you might not need today but definitely will someday.

Before long we roll into the game segment and Bernie on the News, mixing sponsor reads, automotive headlines, racing updates, and the usual friendly abuse between the three of us. By the time the first half of the episode wraps up, it already feels like a full show — road-trip chatter, car talk, and the kind of natural conversation that happens when nobody is trying too hard to keep things on track.

Dallas Kibbe Racing — Preparing for 2026

Behind the scenes, there has been a lot of exciting work happening around Dallas Kibbe Racing as preparations ramp up for the 2026 season. While race day is where the spotlight usually lands, the real story right now is everything happening off the track. The team has been deep in planning mode, laying the groundwork to make the upcoming season the strongest one yet.

One of the biggest updates is the development of new race suits and updated team graphics. The goal is to bring a fresh, professional look to the program that reflects the growth of the team and the support behind it. Alongside the new visual identity, work is also underway on a new website that will serve as the hub for race updates, schedules, and ways for fans to follow along throughout the season.

Training and preparation are also a major focus right now. Like any serious racing program, success on track starts long before the green flag drops. Driver training, physical preparation, and race strategy development are all part of the process as the team builds momentum heading into the new season.

Scheduling is another big piece of the puzzle. The 2026 race calendar is coming together, with plans being finalized for events, travel, and logistics that will shape the year ahead. It’s an exciting phase where everything begins to move from ideas into real plans.

There is a lot more exciting news still to come, and the support from the KAF community means a great deal as this program continues to grow. As the 2026 season approaches, we’d love for you to follow along, cheer Dallas on, and be part of the journey as the next chapter of Dallas Kibbe Racing comes together.

The Dukes Of Hazzard – Episode Review:
“Luke’s Love Story” S01E07

When we got into Episode 359, the Dukes review was Season 1, Episode 7 — “Luke’s Love Story.” And right off the bat I said what I think is the most accurate way to describe it: this episode feels like somebody dumped a pile of story ideas on the table and then decided to use all of them. You’ve got romance, an obstacle race, women’s lib commentary, a jealous ex-boyfriend trying to sabotage things, nitrous oxide murder attempts, and Boss Hogg secretly storing his mother’s ashes in a trophy. Somehow all of that made it into a single script.

Now here’s the thing: despite the story being all over the place, there’s still a lot to like if you’re watching this show for the cars. These early California-shot episodes have a look that’s really unique. The lighting is bright, the roads look great, and the camera work around the cars is fantastic. You’re getting fresh B-roll, real in-car footage with actors actually driving, and some great motion shots that make the racing feel alive even when the plot starts getting a little goofy.

The big storyline centers on Amy Creevy and her black Mustang called Lucifer, which enters the Hazzard Derby as the first female competitor. That’s a cool setup on paper, and the character brings a different energy to the episode. But where the show starts to wobble is the way Luke is written around her. The flirting is fine at first, but pretty quickly Luke turns into a jealous caveman, and suddenly the whole “love story” part of the episode gets uncomfortable instead of charming.

This is where Corndog really shines in the discussion, because he brings in the behind-the-scenes car knowledge. He explains that the General Lee footage here is still using leftover Georgia cars — one ’69 Charger and two ’68s — and by this point those cars had already taken a beating during production. That kind of detail is gold for Dukes fans, because you can actually see the damage continuity and the differences between the cars during the race.

And speaking of the race — that’s the saving grace of the episode. Once the Hazard Derby finally gets going, the General Lee gets real screen time and the episode becomes a lot more fun. The camera angles are great, the cars are beating and banging through the course, and you can tell the stunt team was really working with what they had. Even if the story is messy, the car action makes the episode worth watching.

Bernie lands somewhere in the middle on this one. He agrees the plot is thick and a little soap-opera-ish, but he still finds some things to enjoy. He liked getting a little more Uncle Jesse wisdom, even if the race itself didn’t quite live up to the way Waylon Jennings hyped it in the narration. And of course Bernie wraps the whole review with one of his signature poems, which somehow manages to summarize the entire episode in rhyme.

So when it came time to rate it, we landed in three slightly different places. I gave it a 9, mostly because I love these early California episodes and the car footage is excellent. Corndog came in at 8.5, mainly for the General Lee action and the Georgia-era cars still being used. Bernie was a little tougher at 7, citing the overloaded plot. Put it all together and Luke’s Love Story ends up being one of those episodes that isn’t great storytelling — but if you love the cars and the early production history of The Dukes of Hazzard, there’s still a lot there to enjoy.
