Dallas Kibbe Racing & The HPX Opportunity
We also spent time talking about something that matters a lot more long-term: opportunity.
The upcoming High Performance Expo isn’t just another event—it’s a place where real connections happen. Not social media connections. Not “like and subscribe” connections. Real ones.
I’m taking Dallas with me again this year, and the goal is simple: get him in front of people, shake hands, and build relationships that actually lead somewhere. Because in this industry—and really in any industry—that’s what moves the needle.
You can hand a resume to someone at a booth. You can meet a team member from a major race shop. You can walk away with a name, a number, and a door that’s now open.
That’s the kind of thing that changes a trajectory.
And that’s why it matters.

The Dukes Of Hazzard – Episode Review:
“Limo One is Missing” S01E09

There’s something about early Dukes of Hazzard that just feels different—and this episode is a perfect example of why.
“Limo One is Missing” starts with a premise that only this show could pull off. The President’s limousine—sent ahead as part of a routine visit—makes its way through Hazzard County and stops, of all places, at the Boar’s Nest. That alone sets the tone. This isn’t high-security Washington. This is Hazzard. And that difference is exactly where the story comes to life.
Because the moment Cooter Davenport lays eyes on that car, it’s over.
He doesn’t hesitate. He doesn’t calculate the consequences. He simply falls in love with it. There’s a moment where he’s staring at the grille, seeing his reflection, blinking like a kid on Christmas morning—and before you know it, he’s thanking the good Lord for the “skills” to steal it. Not out of malice. Not for profit. Just because he can’t help himself.
And that’s really what drives the whole episode.
From there, things spiral the way they always do in Hazzard County. What starts as a joyride turns into a full-blown crisis. The Secret Service is scrambling, Boss Hogg sees an opportunity to turn the situation to his advantage, and the Dukes find themselves right in the middle of something far bigger than they ever intended to be part of.

What makes this episode stand out, though, isn’t just the story—it’s how real it all feels. This is still early Dukes, before heavy reuse of footage and before anything starts to feel overly staged. The cars move like real cars because they are. The action has weight to it. When the limousine barrels down a dirt road, you feel the size and presence of it in a way that later episodes just don’t quite capture.
And then there’s Daisy’s Road Runner.
For those paying attention, this is a big moment. This episode marks the final appearance of the yellow Road Runner, and it gets a proper send-off. It’s not just parked in the background—it plays a key role in the story. Daisy uses it exactly the way the show always uses her character: smart, strategic, and just persuasive enough to get the job done when the guys can’t. It’s one of those moments that’s both fun and telling, and it works because it fits the tone of the show perfectly.
There are also the little details that make this episode rewarding on repeat watches. You catch things like the camera tracks visible in the opening shot, or the keys somehow still hanging in the ignition after the car is supposedly hotwired. They’re small imperfections, but they’re part of the charm. They remind you that this was all done practically, in real time, without the safety net of modern production tricks.
Underneath all of it, though, is the part that really matters.
Cooter isn’t a villain—he’s just a guy who let his passion get the better of him. The Dukes don’t step in because they have to; they step in because it’s the right thing to do. And Uncle Jesse, as always, brings it back to a bigger perspective—one that feels grounded in respect, responsibility, and a quiet kind of patriotism that doesn’t need to be loud to be understood.
By the time it all wraps up, the limo is returned, disaster is avoided, and everything is set right again—without anyone looking for recognition or reward.
It’s a simple story. But it’s told in a way that only early Dukes of Hazzard could deliver.
And that’s exactly why it still works.
