When One Chapter Ends:
Graduation Season, Racing Realities, and the Moments That Matter

The Kibbe and Friends Show is back—and this episode lands right in the middle of a season that always seems to carry a little more weight than expected.

With graduation season here, the guys open the show talking about what it really means when a chapter comes to a close. Corndog is living it in real time as his daughter prepares to graduate, while Rob reflects on what that transition looked like from the other side—both as a parent and as someone who’s already lived through it. It’s one of those moments in life where everything feels normal while it’s happening, but later you realize just how significant it actually was.

That idea—of being in the middle of something without fully understanding it—becomes the perfect setup for this episode’s featured movie.

Along the way, there’s a full Dallas Kibbe Racing update following a tough stretch at the Spring Nationals, a standout NASCAR moment that reminds everyone what a true milestone win looks like, and of course, Bernie on the News delivering exactly what you’d expect… and then some.

But the heart of this episode is the movie.

Movie Review: Dazed and Confused (1993)

This month’s movie review takes us back to May 28, 1976—the last day of school.

Dazed and Confused doesn’t follow a traditional storyline. There’s no single main plot driving everything forward, no major turning point that defines the film. Instead, it simply drops you into a moment—one day and one night—and lets it unfold through the lives of a group of teenagers all standing on the edge of what comes next.

At first glance, it feels loose. Almost directionless. But that’s exactly what makes it work.

The movie moves between different groups of students, each experiencing that final day in their own way. Incoming freshmen are thrown into the chaos of initiation, seniors are staring down the reality of life after high school, and everyone in between is just trying to stretch the night out as long as possible. There’s no urgency to get anywhere—because deep down, nobody is quite ready to move forward yet.

The story naturally centers around Randall “Pink” Floyd, the high school quarterback dealing with expectations he’s not sure he believes in, and Mitch Kramer, the freshman getting his first real taste of what high school life is going to look like. Their experiences anchor the film, but it’s the surrounding cast that fills it out—especially Wooderson, who somehow exists completely outside of time and responsibility, yet feels right at home in this world.

What stands out most is how differently this movie hits depending on when you watch it. As a teenager, it feels familiar—like a reflection of the world you’re living in. As an adult, it becomes something else entirely. It’s no longer about the parties or the chaos—it’s about recognizing a moment in life that you didn’t fully appreciate while you were in it. That realization carries a different kind of weight, especially when you’ve got kids of your own approaching that same phase.

And then there are the cars—and they’re exactly what you’d hope they would be.

From the opening shot of the Pontiac GTO Judge rolling through the school parking lot to the Chevelle SS 454 that Wooderson cruises in, the cars in this film feel authentic in a way that most movies never quite get right. Nothing is overdone or out of place. These aren’t “movie cars” built to impress—they’re the kinds of cars these characters would actually be driving, and that authenticity carries through every scene. Whether it’s a truck, a cruiser, or a worn-in daily driver, everything fits the world perfectly.

The soundtrack deserves just as much credit. There’s no traditional score here—just a constant stream of 1970s rock that drives the tone of the entire film. Every scene feels connected through the music, and it becomes just as important as any character on screen. It doesn’t just support the story—it is the story.

By the time the movie winds down, nothing dramatic has really happened—and yet it feels like everything has. That’s the point. This isn’t a movie about events. It’s a movie about a moment in life. The kind of moment you only fully understand once it’s already behind you.
