Vandemonium, Hemi Heaven,
Autocross Mayhem & Monster Trucks
MoParty 2025 delivered peak Mopar mayhem, and the Kibbe & Friends crew—minus Rob—brought the sights, sounds, and parking-lot “afterglow” straight to your speakers. Episode 340 kicks off with CornDog and Bernie’s unsupervised field trip recap, complete with late-night Hampton Inn commentary, a fan-club-powered grill session, and the now-legendary “Stand-In Kibbe” Iowa fact machine. Heat, laughter, and a little delirium set the tone for a weekend where everything moved, raced, smoked, or got roasted—including the hosts.
On track and in the pits, this year felt bigger—promoter Jimi Day called MoParty “America’s high-performance Mopar event” and said they aim for a pro-level competition vibe with a little WWE-style spectacle. Mission accomplished. The schedule never stopped: autocross, speed-stop, drag racing, burnout contests, a monster-truck crush, parade laps, the mullet showdown, and the new circle-track headline act: Vandemonium. Crowds packed in, the sun didn’t quit, and the stands cheered right through the evening mains.
Show-field highlights stacked up fast. The National Hemi Club rolled in with roughly 35 Hemi cars in one striking lineup, including a crisp white ’70 Road Runner pilot car that looked ready for a period-correct road test. Wagons were out in force (CornDog approved), and oddballs like mid-’70s Chargers, Cordobas, and Magnums added welcome variety. Best of Show went to a white Duster—clean, purposeful, and universally admired. Even the concessions got “reviewed,” but the real flavor was in the pits and on course.
Vandemonium was the crowd-pleaser we hoped for, and YouTube’s Dylan McCool sealed the win. We sat down with Dylan for a shade-tree interview (literally) that ranged from his “omelet C10” radiator hack to his wild shortened ’72 Challenger/buggy mash-up and his dad’s hand-lettered, Petty-blue ’70 Satellite. For the van race, Dylan chose a 2016 Caravan with a proper safety cage and sticky tires, then dressed it A-Team style. He kept it smart—no nitrous grenades on lap two—and drove it to the top step.
Fabrication fans will love our conversation with Grant Skidmore and his autocross-ready 1997 Jeep Cherokee XJ. It’s a factory two-door, five-speed, now six inches lower up front with clever, budget-minded suspension mods (leaf-under out back), a Whipple-blown 4.0L, and an AX15 still doing the rowing. Grant runs local events, chases temps with plans for water/meth injection, and even clicked off a 14.4 in the quarter—with 3.21 gears. It’s a humble, home-built package that turns heads and cones in equal measure.
We also caught up with TV-vet-turned-creator Tommy Boshers and his family project: the “Hemibago.” Picture a ’71 Winnebago in sour-apple green with a Hellcat powerplant, side-pipe cutouts, Road Runner horn, a towering whip antenna (complete with tail), and a delightfully cool, period-vibe interior courtesy of Mrs. Boshers. Tommy shares the why as much as the how—owning your voice, embracing the new creator economy, and building something the whole family can cruise in…or shock unsuspecting sports cars with at the stoplight.
Round it out with the trademark K&F energy: Bernie’s news (NPD shout-out included), a quick celebrity game, and Rob’s update from the home front—skipping MoParty to coach Dallas to a strong P2 at Elko.
