Welcome to Episode #11 of the Kibbe and Finnegan show! If you’re new to the show, Mike Finnegan and I have taken our Dukes of Hazzard fandom and turned it into a full fledged automotive podcast Gong Show of sorts, completed with a full episode review from The Dukes of Hazzard. It’s every 40-year-old’s dream, right?
You can find every episode here on The MuscleCar Place and iTunes and Google Play, and from time to time we’ll also be posting video clips and (and even) full shows to Finnegan’s Garage on YouTube. For those of you that want the show on Android but don’t like Google Play….we’re working on it (specifically via Stitcher). For now if you click the “Download” link at the top of this post you’ll be able to stream it on your phone directly. You can also pull the RSS feed as well. We’ve heard from many Android users that the Pocket Casts app is the way to go!
We’ll be adding in a live show stream in the future – so be sure to follow us online for notice of when that will be happening. Look for this show to publish twice monthly here (or maybe even MORE often), in iTunes, and on Finnegan’s YouTube channel! Have a question for the show? Just hit is up:

Dukes of Hazzard S2 E2: Gold Fever
K&F Show Summary:
Bad guys come to Hazzard with fake gold and store it in Boss Hogg’s bank. They trick Boss into thinking it’s real gold and that if it is stolen from his bank he’ll be financially liable for millions of dollars to them. Shockingly enough, the gold is then stolen. The Dukes come to the rescue in the RV of a driving Dentist, and throw molotov cocktails at the bad guys until their car explodes. No one gets hurt and all wrongs are righted. Cars jump. Daisy wears a French Maid outfit. Hijinks ensue.
Legit Show Info:
Season 2 – Episode 2
Title: Gold Fever
Written By: Si Rose
Directed By: Paul Baxley – The Stunt Director!
Airdate: 9/28/79
Interesting Tidbits:
-Show Writer Si Rose….who died in 1976 – three years before this show aired!!
-The “Hazzard Square” location was built for the 1960’s Warner Bros era movie musical “The Music Man”. That movie town was based on the writer’s home town of Mason City IA – about an hour north of Rob. It is still used today and was featured heavily as the fictional town of “Stars Hollow” in Corndog’s favorite TV show, Gilmore Girls.
-Big Al Wyatt doubles Bo. Al who is most responsible for driving the General “Bo Duke tail wagging style,”
-This is the third use of an RV in this show. The first time was in season one with prostitutes. The second was with Laurel and Hardy look-alike bank robbers.
Corndog’s Insider Super Geeky Yet Awesome Insights:
-The crew would do a very easy modification by jumping a wire on the starter relay that would allow them to crank the car in gear. You can see evidence of this in this episode. You can also see that the transmission was just about worn out at this point in its life as a General Lee. Many times when they were trying to make a quick get away, after climbing through the windows, Tom would reach over and turn the key. As soon as John climbed in, his foot would floor the gas pedal. They did this many times throughout the series and it almost became second nature to them. It also killed many transmissions.
-On the scene where Bo and Luke are following the bad guys out of town, they drive into the back of a livestock trailer to hide from Rosco and Enos. As the car backs out of the trailer, you will notice that this car does not have a pushbar. With the steep incline of the ramp, it is guaranteed that the bottom of the pushbar would have hung up on the ramp.

The DREAM Board Update: (Goals to Accomplish Before Episode 200)
1. Get Diet Coke to Sponsor us….or just Kibbe.
2. Be characters in the Disney/Pixar movie, Cars 3. Finnegan is the General. Kibbe…is wishing he was the General.
3. Syndicate the show onto TV and radio, having awesome guests in studio, with Dale Earnhardt Jr. on regularly to be our best friend.
4. Get John Schneider himself on the show with us. Pray to God he actually likes us and isn’t freaked out.
5. Blow up the podcast so that it becomes a regular weekly show, interviewing celebrities, and actually providing a living for us capable of allowing us to race cars anytime we want plus let our wives get the shoes they like.
6. Get our own studio.
7. We each get a General Lee (real car – not a toy).
8. Get a Voiceover Guy to announce the segments.
9. Jump a car together. Kibbe wants to go 30-feet vertical.
10. Make a Dream GL that is based off of a 1973 NASCAR Charger (like the 1/16th scale AMT model)
11. Kibbe needs a new wallet to replace his “George Costanza”.
