Dukes Review: Compared to this episode, the last episode that I gave -4 Corndogs to….was pretty good. This episode…..is the new lowest point of the Dukes of Hazzard (until we get to the episode with the short alien). Much like the American automotive industry, this episode is another example of great innovation and horrible execution.
Here’s the summary: A smack talking robot that looks like a dude in a cardboard robot costume your 4 year old would make comes to Hazzard, has a southern slang name, and becomes the new Sheriff of Hazzard.
Once again, the Dukes of Hazzard sets a future trend – which in this case is technology automating the role of the working man – but that won’t help you to avoid thinking about how much you hate what has become of your favorite TV show ever. But, if I’m honest, I can’t hate this episode….because it’s so laughably terrible. They know it. We know it. And they know that we know it. -10 Corndogs

Dukes Review: The metaness of the multiverse – as now popularized in Spiderman 3 – and as categorized in the last episode – apparently came from the Dukes of Hazzard. This is the episode of the Dukes where Waylon Jennings, the real life show balladeer comes to visit Hazzard. And he does so, because he knows the Dukes. Because it turns out – this entire series – up to now – has been a real-time story telling of the Dukes to we the watching audience by Waylon Jennings. Meaning, he knows this is a TV show. And they know this is a TV show. And they know that we know that they know that this is a TV show. And before this is all said and done you’re going to learn when the song “American Pie” has a whole lot to do Waylon Jennings Tennessee based museum (from 1984) and the worlds most famous flying orange Dodge Charger!

Movie Review: What do you get when you combine 2 great actors with amazing chemistry, comedic timing, a woman to fight over, a REEEEEALY old man to make horrible inappropriate jokes, a Minnesota winter at Christmastime, and elderly jokes a mile long? One of the most perfect movies ever made – Grumpy Old Men. It’s Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon fighting over Anne Margeret, making the same kind of dumb jokes that guys never – and I mean EVER – get sick of telling.
Now – this is an automotive and pop culture podcast of course – and there are plenty o cars in this movie….which might be the problem with it, maybe the only flaw in fact. The star cars are a 68 Dodge Polara and a ‘74 International Harvester Travelall, but don’t forget the 83 Pontiac Grand Prix and the red 1980 Chevy Citation – all of which in this movie are rust free, and all of which in Minnesota would have had 4 wheels in the ground by the time they were 7 years old. They salt cars in the Midwest like Bernie on a Tuesday morning bacon bender. 10 corndogs. Plus 2.

Dukes Review: It’s been nearly 6 months since the last episode of Season 6 aired, and in just 4 and a half months….it’ll all be over. The final season of the most beloved car show ever is about to begin, and while the original mission of Gy Waldron to have a non family friendly booze hustlin’ prostitute lovin’ inbred family mission was lost long ago, the final season is one we all have to look on with a grain of salt. The show that gave us so much joy, happiness, costly hobbies, costly careers…..is in it’s final launch. There’s plenty of bad this season (and I’m talking about more than the miniature cars being used for stunts) but there’s some good too! And luckily for us, the person to direct it knew just a little something about the fans of the show. Thomas Steven Wopat presents the birth of the General Lee and – whether he meant to or not – creates the canon of the entire series by answering what every little boy needed to know most.

Why is the General orange, with a rebel flag on the roof, a dixie horn under the hood, and why is it named General Lee? It’s here. More importantly, how does an old dead wreck from a junkyard become able to fly leaps and bounds, win every race, catch every bad guy, win every girl for the Duke Boys, respond to it’s name on command, be so much of a family member it gets it’s own birthday cake, and become the most magical car in the history of the known universe and the most famous car in the world? Movie Review: Just when you thought you had heard every Santa origin possible….this is the one where they kill him, and could completely care less. No one is even sad. Dukes Review: As someone once said, no good deed goes unpunished. What started as a series known for its unbelievable car jumps and stunts….has just become a cost cutting mid 1980’s cash cow destined for cancellation. This episode, the very last one of Season 6, features the beginning of the end. Miniatures. Miniature buildings. Miniatures cars. Miniature jumps. No wonder they stuck this episode on a Saturday night when they thought no one was looking. It’s a shame too, because the episode itself is honestly pretty good plot, driving stunts, and features a great guest actor (Hal Williams, 227). Barf. It had to happen sometime. Christmas is ruined.

Dukes Review: We’re not going to lie, Season 6 is nearly to a close and it’s starting to get weird. There’s a fake fortune teller played by the lady from Policy Academy. There’s a little person (and they actually don’t say “midget,” thankfully). Also, Bo’s not in this episode. There’s also a 68 Charger with a REALLY terrible 69 taillight conversion. This friends, is a really odd episode with tons of sub plots, a Dodge van, and no new General Lee jumps. That’s the bad news. The good news is that Corndog’s book had a ton of details on this episode and we added a lot to our list!

Dukes Review: There’s a plot. Too much plot, some good shots of the General, a cool jump or two…..and then I forget. The IMDB guy got it mostly right. Daisy gets confused by a hypochondriac mobster for being a nurse because she was in a church play that required extra short nurse outfits. And she switched her book of lines for the play with his book of illegal business and ill gottenness. So there’s that. The General Lee had carbon buildup, which is dumb, backfired, and then the whole episode is dealing with said hypochondriac. Luckily, Corndog found a detail on a GL with a 273 small block and nitrous!

Dukes Review: This is the show that convinced you that you can spy on any secret conversation simply by hiding under a desk. I hid under my parents bed once for an hour to hear what I was getting for Christmas……but they never left immediately after spilling the beans like they do on TV and I eventually had to crawl out and got caught.
Anyway, this is part of the “Dukes Infiltrate the Mob” episode by racing in NASCAR, in an Oldsmobile, that’s supposed to be a Chevy, that someone wants to replicate out of a Buick. Solid story telling, vintage NASCAR, good stunts…….that’s fine. The introduction of glamping is here, and that’s nice. There’s not enough General Lee in this episode of course, but this the episode that the PC culture should watch….because the Duke that wins the NASCAR race – in one try – is Daisy. And in a true sign of playing both sides of the aisle, the Dukes get another phone call from the President of the Unites States. Now they’ve had a call from a Republican (Reagan) and a Democrat (Carter). Good episode. More General Lee, please. 6 Corndogs.
