TMCP #542: Ask Rick – Mecum ’23 Indy Auction Recap, What Sold, What Did Not, and Why You Need To Check The Paperwork!

It is June and finally the start of summer is upon us (technically it’s June 21st…but who’s counting). The recent Mecum auction ended with some very interesting surprises and apparently some gossip and fallout after the bidding was all done. I Asked Rick what he thought about the prices and investment quality of the offerings this year as well as his take on some cars that I was considering until the prices went up!

TMCP #539: Ask Rick – Good (and Bad) NPD Sponsorships, The End of of the Challenger and Camaro, and Investment Cars!

May is here and car shows are starting up across the nation. Also Cinco de Mayo and Memorial day are around the corner and the official start of summer is near. I hope you have your car out or your project almost done to a point where you can drive it and enjoy the warmer weather. This time I decided to once again Ask Rick about six cars from two different categories.  The first set of cars are of “pedigree”and have either a track record or history that makes them special. The other category is $10k starter cars that are ready to go out and make some summer memories. Ricks take on these is always clear and to the point.

TMCP #417: Oscar Pereda, Godfather of the BFG Pro-Touring Tire? Michelin’s Track Connect Tire Sensor Apps for Better Lap Times – Ask Rick, NPD looks to the New Year, The Bullitt Mustang goes to Mecum

This week I cornered Oscar Pereda from Michelin in a (slightly) “off the books” interview at the SEMA Show. While the initial discussion was to be centered around the all new Michelin Track Connect system….I found out that he is the guy behind the coolest and most trend-setting genre changing tire sizes in pro-touring! He literally is the person who decided to have BFG develop a 335-wide 18″ tire…because he thought that is what would look “coolest” on the tail of a ’69 Camaro. Front tire sizes followed suit and today we have an enduser suspension, brake, chassis, and speed industry built around it!

Since January is here it is not only the start to a new year – it’s the start to a new auction season!  January has traditionally been “auction heaven” when it comes to collector cars, and the last ten years have been incredible for muscle cars!  Arizona in particular is a hub of automotive auctions […]

The best time ever to be a muscle car guy….or gal!

I have the chance to interact with a lot of fans of American Muscle cars on a regular basis.  I also speak with a lot of people in the automotive and restoration industry as well as those that sell classic cars for a living.  Everyone seems to whole heartedly agree – there has NEVER been […]
