The Grandaddy Event Reborn:

Cruisin’ The Smokies 2015!

In this episode we had the chance to bring our old friend Bill Howell on the show to talk about the all new Cruisin’ The Smokies event that will be put on by American Street Car Promotions. It will debut in the Tennessee Smoky Mountains in May of 2015 and will (effectively) replace the event that was one of the first ever in the Pro-Touring world, Run Through The Hills!

As Bill shared in the interview, this event will have a similar format to some of the other “Cruisin” events that have popped up in recent years, with an autocross, a poker run, a car show, a moonshine tour (which Bill tells us is legal now), a running the tail of the dragon (highway), and daily car cruises making up the bulk of the event all wrapped up in the setting of the beautiful Smoky Mountains. Essentially, it’s an automotive themed vacation!

Registration is open now and participants can win prizes from local businesses by participating in as many stops as possible in the poker run. Unfortunately though the autocross segment sold out already due to the sneak announcement on Pro-Touring.com!

We also caught up with Bill on the reformation of the American Street Car Series (now American Street Car Promotions) and learned all about his new Cutlass as well. Stay tuned to cruisinthesmokies.com and Pro-Touring.com for more details (as well as to register for the event).
