Cruisin’ the Coast with Woody Bailey!

In this episode of the show Larry and I had the chance to interview Woody Bailey, the man behind the phenomenally successful “Cruisin’ the Coast” event held for a single week each fall along a 30 mile stretch of Highway 90 on Mississippi’s Gulf Coast. Each year the event has grown bigger and bigger and scope, gathering more attention, more cars, and more celebrities. This year – for the first time ever – the event will include an autocross as part of the festivities as well (our friends at the American Street Car Series will put on the autocross itself)!

We had Woody on to talk about the event, and it is essentially a 7 day car cruise along a stretch of Highway 90, with each day presenting a different set of “poker run” objectives (i.e. places to stop, visit, and get checked off for completion). Each venue has something cool to do with the Gulf Coast and/or cars, so people should expect great music, great Gulf Coast food (think fresh grilled shrimp) and drinks, and – best of all – constant movement! If you’re a car guy that prefers to be behind the wheel instead of sitting in a lawn chair, you’ll love it.

The autocross itself will be held during the Tuesday segment of the event. ASCS will put it on in a standard safety format (belts, battery tie down, etc.) and there should be plenty of fun for all.
