Today’s Car: ’68 Road Runner – 383 – 4-Speed – Pretty Girl Not Included!
Here’s a nice ’68 Road Runner with a factory correct (but non-numbers matching) 383, 4-speed, and 8 3/4 rear end. It has been prepared nicely and, other than the 18 inch front wheels and 20 inch rear wheels, is in original trim. The advertiser has listed that the floors have been replaced, but were done well. As with all Road Runners, it’s a bare bones car – no power steering or power brakes included….and the pretty girl in the picture does not go with it!!
It is a fresh restoration with a lot of attention paid to the detail. The body was stripped to the medal and some of the panels repaired and others being replaced. It’s covered in Matador Red pain that is accented by the Black on the hood. All the glass is good and it was reinstalled with new seals as well as the window felt. They also replaced the rest of the weather stripping to ensure a good fit of the doors and trunk. The stainless was either cleaned of replaced and the bumpers were bought new. The finals exterior touch is the set of 18” and 20” American Racing Wheels.
Next, we will take a look at the interior of the ’68. It all looks like it would have in ’68 with the base black vinyl. It has the correct bench seats and 4 Speed Shifter. The seats, carpet, door panels, and headliner have all been replaced. When you look at the dash it looks correct with the factory AM radio. It has the wood grip wheel with the Beep Beep Horn Button.
Finally, we will take a look at the driveline of the Plymouth. Under the hood it looks great with the inner fenders being painted correct. The engine is a ’68 model 383 V8 that is mated to a 4 Speed trans and a 8¾ rear end. We checked the block ID #s on the engine and the best we can tell this was a factory warranty engine. It’s not had headers or anything added except for a set of chrome valve covers. As with a lot of the Road Runners it has manual steering and manual Disc Brakes. When you take a look under this car you will see that the floor pans have been replaced and look really nice. The frame also looks good.
