Presented with Holley! This is it! Justin Cornette’s black ’66 “Moonrunner” Charger is back on the road, complete with a Holley Sniper Stealth 4150 EFI system and Hyperspark (timing control) ignition. Listen in for the full details on how this high-lift-cam small block MOPAR reacted to it. Starting is now instant and Learn Mode is in full effect (Justin used the “Race” mode calibration on the EFI handheld). This car used to hate idling in traffic.  No longer! There’s also a full update on the Silversport A41 (Stage II) Automatic with bluetooth shift control as well. Justin’s car has a 3.73 rear gear and the small block used to scream at highway speeds. Now….all better! https://bit.ly/KAFSHolley

Dukes Review: If there was ever a better era than the early 80’s for the claim that plastic surgery can actually may you look like someone else, I wouldn’t believe it. And nothing tugs more on the heart strings than thinking a loved one has been killed by jumping a car into a lake, even though they’ve done that a billion times with no issue. In this one – when Rosco is presumed dead – everyone from Bo to Boss is sad, crying, and solemn. But he’s not dead of course, there are now just two people that look like him. Daisy still wears a low neckline dress to his wake that’ll also have you seeing double. John Scneider gets some seriously great acting and driving in, Tom Wopat climbs out the right side of a flying car in a left hand slide, the bad guys get caught, and did I mention we get a look at the General Lee trunk popper in this episode? That may be better than Daisy’s dress. 10 stars.

Project Update: Corndog’s ’66 Charger runs….and the Holley Sniper seems to have even sorted out his crazy high-lift cam! After setting the Idle Air Control following warmup it now cranks over on the first start, cold or hot. Idle timing is 28 degrees, All in at 34 degrees.

MOVIE REVIEW: Stroker Ace! If you loved Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run, Police Academy, WKRP, Gomer Pyle: USMC, The Hardy Boys, Elvira: Mistress of the Dark, Deliverance, and Days of Thunder….this is like all of them combined, minus ….basically everything from Deliverance except Ned Beaty, and all of the really good stuff from Days of Thunder like Tom Cruise and amazing cinematography with real in car race footage at speed. This movie would be culture cancelled today. Sexual harassment is considered innocent fun, women are ogled, there’s no drug use, and the confederate flags are a plenty. But when Hal Needham called, Burt Reynolds answered…and made a box office flop that has kept us all clucking and chuckling to this day. Why? Because he was driving the FASTEST CHICKEN IN THE SOUTH.

Industry News: Fun’s Over? GM has announced they’re going to all electric vehicles by 2035, and carbon neutral by 2040. That means that any R&D one the internal combustion engine there…..is ending. Better get your ZL1’s, Hellcat’s, and killer Mustangs while you can! (Buy two – one to drive, and one as investment!)

Dukes Review: A new season of Dukes is upon us…but the final formula of the Dukes is now in place that will take us to the end. The dramatic music specifically is….a lot. The General looks great, cars are freshened up, the clothes are a little less spray painted on, and for now the stunts DON’T involve miniatures….but knowing it’s coming may make you wretch in advance. This episode though, pretty good, and they film at Six Flags I think. To conclude… Lulu is kidnapped for ransom and then rescued. The end.

K&F Show Summary: For your weekly automotive pop culture distraction from reality we humbly present our full review of the “Mockumentary” movie John Bronco. This fantastic 37-minute masterpiece tells the fake story of legendary Ford Bronco pitchman, John Bronco. For 30 years John Bronco was the face of the Bronco akin to the Marlboro Man was to Marlboro smokes….only without the cancer. He won the Baja 500, dated Bo Derek, and knew everything there ever was to know about the Bronco. Starring Walter Goggins as John Bronco, Tim Meadows, Kareem Abdul Jabbar, Bo Derek, and Tim Baltz. This may be the dumb car thing you needed most this week. Enjoy!

Presented with Holley! It’s a new year, and maybe a new (old, kinda crappy, still cool) ride is in your future! Holley is giving away Freiburger’s very own ’66 Buick convertible – the car that started Roadkill! If that’s not enough….did you know that Holley is hiring? Maybe 2021 could be the year you get that dream job! Click here: http://bit.ly/TMCPHolleyRoadkill, and here: http://bit.ly/TMCPHolleyJobs

Projects: In this episode…we debunk the real facts behind movie car license plates you can buy today. Also, Corndog’s black ’66 Charger needs a whole new serpentine pulley system….and he’s got it. The red ’69 is about to get a Holley 600 to replace the Rochester carb someone put on it!

Dukes Review: This is the Season 5 finale episode that features “Bull” from the TV sitcom “Night Court.” It also features a section on forced marriage. Also ultralight aircraft. Meh. Its OK. The highlight might be one jump scene followed by a weird split second when you see a bunch or random people off camera. There appears to be some in car audio taken of the GL as well, which is awesome. 5 Corndogs.

TMCP #453: Happy New Year 2021! 10 Years of TMCP Full Time; Ask Rick, The REAL Start of NPD

2021 is now here! This week in particular marks my 10 year anniversary if leaving the corporate world behind to chase some crazy new dreams. While I can’t say it went exactly to plan, I CAN say that I wouldn’t change any second of it. The friends, the adventures, and the experiences have been overwhelming. Thank YOU! I tried my best to share the good, bad, and ugly of that very first week in business (i.e. it was a massive failure). 10 years later, I’m a little older, balder, and wiser.  My hope is that what I shared in this episode will be a big help to those of you in the automotive business of your choosing, no matter what that is.

Pop Culture: Chuck Yeager has died. Listen in for a tribute to a pilot from another era that loved duty above all else. An A-1, all American, total bad ass!

Dukes Review: This episode is AWESOME! It has everything: Duke genealogy, aerial stunts, maps of Hazzard, a strange bad guy (lady) that is rich, successful, driven, and so cool she has a huge gap in her front teeth. The plot revolves are strip mining Hazzard for coal deposits and a helicopter fighting the General Lee! It’s great, so great in fact that when they wrote the 2005 Dukes of Hazzard movie they just took the plot from this episode and added a race to it. Really. It’s awesome. 10 Corndogs.

Pop Culture: Darth Vader has died! Well, David Prowse did…and he was the 6’7″ bodybuilder who was the man behind the suit.

Dukes Rview: Finally, proof that Bo and Luke are so much better. At everything. This is the episode where Bo and Luke decide to become “Big Brothers” to a troubled youth in need. Then the “youth” (who was played by an actor four years older than John Scnheider) steals the General Lee, finds some stolen money, and Boss Hogg keeps him from getting murdered (really). Bo hoots at women, Luke is snarky, the stunts are fantastic, Al Wyatt wags the tail of the General, Coy and Vance are no more, and all is right with the world. 8 Corndogs.

Fun: Alex Trebek passed away last weekend and Sean Connery passed the week before. So….we did what needed to be done most, an SNL Celebrity Jeopardy throw-down!

Dukes Review: The last Coy and Vance episode is finally here. Oh, how I have waited for this day! Now, this isn’t a bad episode. In fact this episode has a number of themes that really set the stage for what the Dukes is all about. Self reliance, chivalry, open prayer, putting others needs ahead of your own, and jumping cars. And while I didn’t love Coy and Vance, I did like Byron Cherry and Chris Mayer. They were nice guys in an impossible situation. A situation that is about to end! (Vance never should have said the General was theirs. I never forgave him for that one.)
