Dukes Review:
Actor Jonathan Frakes plays “Jamie Lee Hogg”….but of course he is better known to millions of loyal Trekkies and Commander William Riker of the Starship Enterprise (1701-D). That’s right. This is the Star Trek to Dukes of Hazzard crossover that will have Ryan Brutt and I on the same side of the fight….until this episode is over, of course.
Plot: Boss Hogg’s umpteenth previously unnamed nephew shows up in Hazzard to make some ill gotten gains…only to accidentally fall in love with Daisy Duke. That’s all well and good except Boss Hogg, Uncle Jessie, and all of the evil business partners are against it…and to make things worse, the evil guys want Daisy killed before she learns too much! But then the Hogg wants to marry the Duke and the evil partners think it’s so sweet. This leads to every body panel on Rosco’s patrol car being surgically removed in a hilarious fashion, a massive car chase, a few recycled car jumps, and a remarkable amount of improv by Tom and John. Oh, and they don’t get married and live happily ever after, either. And by next weeks show this will all be long forgotten!

KF Dukes Episode Summary:
Once again we get an episode of the Dukes that’s racist and misogynistic (and by the way internet, that’s a tongue-in-cheek joke that means the episode is the opposite thing). The Dukes meet a female NASCAR driver and have then do the unthinkable…….they just treat her as a complete equal and respect her highly!
Anyway, Daisy gets recruited by Molly Hargrove, a former lady NASCAR driver who needed a new driver to pay her bills…..at any cost. Her plan is to teach Daisy how to win as a no good dirty evil driver…..someone so heinous they would spin people out on the last lap of the Daytona 500. Can you imagine such a thing? Anyway, Boss Hogg weasels in on the deal, Bo and Luke beat up bad guys, Daisy quits and Daisy comes back home. This is the episode that made me think becoming a race car driver was super lucrative and that basically driving any car was like driving a stock car as long as it has a window net.

It’s February, the Super Bowl and the Daytona 500 are right around the corner, Valentine’s Day is upon is, and once again Groundhog Day has come and gone. It’s 6 more weeks of winter….again! This seemed like a perfect excuse to re-run our classic review of the movie of the same name.
What can we say that you don’t know already about the movie Groundhog Day? As it turns out…plenty, but mostly because it amused us to do so. This is the epic fable of the blessing – or curse – of repeating a day over and over and over again. Bill Murray stars as the Phil the weatherman from Philly, sent to cover Phil the Groundhog from Punxsutawney give his annual weather prognostication. Only for Phil the weatherman, Phil the Groundhog causes him to re-live his day in Punxsutawney over, and over, and over again. He tries to eat, drink, and kill himself every day…but it fails. Only when he starts doing acts of service and kindness do things improve. Then he finds love and gets out of the cycle, conveniently about when the movie is ready to end. It’s fantastic. There’s a Chevy C-20 that bites it at one point too. And an Eldorado drives on train tracks. 10-out-of-10 Corndogs.

K&F Show Summary:
2025 is here! We’re kicking things off with a look at what we’re in for this year, Bernie on the News, and a look at Tim Allen’s new ABC car-themed sitcom: Shifting Gears. We’re going to add it to the pop culture review!
Dukes Review: This is the first episode to release in 1985 and was (as of right now) exactly 40 years ago! By this point in the show the series was actually over. Filming had ceased. Actors were looking for new jobs. General Lee’s were sitting idly, waiting for a young Corndog to document them, knowing that there were 27 General Lee’s at the time and he stashed 8 of them for himself to find when he grew up. Tom Wopat directs the episode and – like his previous episodes – really gives fan service, interesting camera angles, and always establishes where the General is. There are no miniatures used of any kind – only recycled footage of jumps and new wrecks. At the end everyone is on scene together and happy. Rosco is over the top funny. It’s a really nice episode. White there are no new jumps, there are new stunts in it – including a big General Lee wreck that is potentially that last GL to be wrecked on screen. But I have to admit…it kind of seems like a goodbye.

Classic Dukes Re-Review: S7E17
“Opening Night at the Boars’ Nest”
Note: This Dukes review is a rebroadcast from Episode 236 of the Kibbe and Friends Show.
K&F Show Summary: I (Kibbe) was in 5th grade when this episode originally aired. I sadly didn’t understand it all coming to an end at that time as a kid, and now as a near 50 year old adult it seems just as hard but yet totally for different reasons. For the last six and a half years we have made a show about a show, and I for one have loved it! Anyway, enough with the sappiness. This is the final episode of the Dukes, John Schneider finally gets to write and direct something…..my High School Nova reappears one last time….and the General Lee actually gets hurt – from, a jump! The stunts are grossly limited as you’d expect from a cancelled show, but nonetheless the plot must go on. So…here’s the plot: there’s a Hazzard County talent show at the Boar’s Nest and Rosco has a magician’s act that supposedly makes Boss disappear. But when Boss actually gets kidnapped the Dukes must rescue him from two stone cold killers….so that Boss can get back in time to rescue Roscoe’s broken heart.

K&F Show Summary: In this second ever episode of the Dukes of Hazzard we learn that Daisy Duke is an aspiring songstress. She spends her own money to have a song published, it is, and it is then recorded professionally but a real country singer.,……all so that we get to watch her show up in a 70’s one piece that is definitely still in fashion. Bo and Luke trick the bad guys into thinking Daisy can be an “AI” impersonator of real singers so they can then sell the now fake records for real money. And it turns out that the bad guys are really run by Boss Hogg, which is honeying up to women and trying to get in cahoots with – effectively – the mob! This may be the weirdest, coolest, and most true-to-it’s creator (Gy Waldron) episode ever…..and it has the full details on the Daisy RoadRunner that our man Corndog is preparing this very second.

K&F Show Summary:
This is the Dukes of Hazzard episode that shows in America, democracy still works.. until the next episode when democracy will be forgotten, because in Season 2 long-lasting consequences only last exactly one episode. Smoke-show married mom “TC Rodgers” returns to Hazzard to run for county supervisor, a job held by Boss Hogg that has a number of privileges, including being the probation officer for Bo and Luke Duke. Bo and Luke help the smoke-show mom because 1) it’s the right thing to do, 2) they think she’s a smoke show, and 3) they do not know she’s a married mom. In helping her win an election they also commit several FCC violations and perform electronic miracles by communicating via CB radio to people on telephones! And you know in the Blue Brothers with they put a loudspeaker on the Bluesmobile? Well that bit came from this episode too. Anyway, the Smokeshow wins the election, her husband and kid show up, and in a week we’ll never hear from her again….just like the Iowa caucus as of today. See you in 4 years, losers.

The Dukes of Hazzard – at the absolute height of it’s popularity and power bring us a double length episode featuring a plethora of terribly painted General Lee’s, a seriously annoying manipulative woman, Dukes fighting Dukes, and a lesson on parenting only Uncle Jesse could give. The Dukes go see a Joe Chitwood stunt show. (It’s not called that in the show directly for marketing reasons, but that’s what it is.) The show is run by it’s second generation owner Diane, a woman who will cuddle up to any man who be be her star attraction driver. When the most recent guy nearly gets killed she suckers Bo into being the next man in. Luke sees through it, Bo gets hot headed and punches everyone in the way, and Uncle Jesse is left to guide a situation he cannot stop, but must direct before his family explodes. Boss and the lead carnival guy both try to kill the General Lee in the process and fail, but the General does what he does best; gives his boys a fighting chance to win the day…and they do by making the 32 car jump.

This is the episode where Luke, an ex boxer in the Marines who nearly accidentally killed someone, has to choose his Uncle Jesse’s farm or to trade his soul. And he can’t choose either. Uncle Jesse knows that he has a dilemma to help Luke with, but instead of giving him the answer (which he COULD d0), he helps Luke learn how to make an impossible decision on his own. Because that’s what fathers do best; teach their kids how to make the tough decisions and be better for it. And then Luke punches the bad guy out, wins the farm anyway, and Jack Gill makes jumping history in the General Lee with the first ever “bungee” suspension vest. 10 Dogs.

KF Show Summary: There was a time in this country where you could do anything and subjective morals said that drugs – like marijuana were evil, but objectification of women…..was a good thing. Smoke em if you got em, right? Times have changed. Anyway, this is the one where Bo and Luke accidentally pick up a water heater that’s really a giant box of marijuana meant for a crime Lord (that old chestnut). In 1980, that meant sexy private detectives in a convertible Trans Am were comin’ after you! It also meant that in 1980 the Dukes of Hazzard had so much juice that this was the SECOND time a new spinoff plot would be introduced in an episode. The Dukes partner up with the detectives, take down the bad guys, right the wrongs, wear the tight jeans, climb the mountains in short shorts, and all’s right with the world. Except the spinoff. Didn’t happen. Thought it was no fault of those jeans. 8.5 Corndogs.
