KF Show Summary: If there is a car movie more cultish than the original 1971 film “Vanishing Point,” we don’t know about it. This is the movie that listeners have requested we review for years and for absolutely no reason it’s just never happened. Until now. With the recent passing of Kowalski himself (actor Barry Newman) we decided the time had come to give it it’s due. The thing is, of our trio none of us was really a hard core fanatic of the movie. We all had seen it at least once, but that was about it. Thankfully Greg Hagemann, our expert from the KF Patreon gang, stepped up to help…..and then just took over so we wouldn’t screw it up. He knew the movie inside and out and was armed with facts for days about the artistic side of the movie as well as the nerdy automotive side. This is the episode where Luke, an ex boxer in the Marines who nearly accidentally killed someone, has to choose his Uncle Jesse’s farm or to trade his soul. And he can’t choose either. Uncle Jesse knows that he has a dilemma to help Luke with, but instead of giving him the answer (which he COULD d0), he helps Luke learn how to make an impossible decision on his own. Because that’s what fathers do best; teach their kids how to make the tough decisions and be better for it. And then Luke punches the bad guy out, wins the farm anyway, and Jack Gill makes jumping history in the General Lee with the first ever “bungee” suspension vest. 10 Dogs.

KF Show Summary: There was a time in this country where you could do anything and subjective morals said that drugs – like marijuana were evil, but objectification of women…..was a good thing. Smoke em if you got em, right? Times have changed. Anyway, this is the one where Bo and Luke accidentally pick up a water heater that’s really a giant box of marijuana meant for a crime Lord (that old chestnut). In 1980, that meant sexy private detectives in a convertible Trans Am were comin’ after you! It also meant that in 1980 the Dukes of Hazzard had so much juice that this was the SECOND time a new spinoff plot would be introduced in an episode. The Dukes partner up with the detectives, take down the bad guys, right the wrongs, wear the tight jeans, climb the mountains in short shorts, and all’s right with the world. Except the spinoff. Didn’t happen. Thought it was no fault of those jeans. 8.5 Corndogs.

It was a feature interview on The MuscleCar Place back during a simpler time, and a time when young Corndog was just stretching his might of General Lee knowledge into the internetspehere. Kibbe tracked him down due to his mighty flexing of knowledge on Dukes of Hazzard forums and had to know how this guy knew so much about the General Lee.
Long story short, it was this interview that launched the era of Dukes of Hazzard nerdlandia into The MuscleCar Place podcast network in a permanent way. The KF Show as we know if today (and Kibbe Lee) are all a result!

KF Movie Summary: This is like when you read the ingredients for a new dish you’re interested in….and all the ingredients are perfect. Peanut butter. Bacon. Chocolate. Fancy Cheese. And then you eat it….and you can taste some of the good things in there, but the combined end product – which should be good….is not good. It’s not bad. But it’s definitely not good. Tommy Boy has mostly the same ingredients and it’s amazing. This one should not make a Michelin book. Chris Farley is the Roger Clinton to Tim Matheson in this movie, the idiot brother of an up and coming politician running for Governor. Dave Spade is a nerdy worker for the governor, assigned to keep Farley out of sight and out of the news. A road trip in a ratted out convertible muscle car ensues until they right the wrongs of voter fraud putting that had placed the wrong politicians into the highest office. There are a few redeeming points and laughs….but this ain’t no Tommy Boy. Rating: 6 Corndogs.
