Today’s Car: Great Daily Driver- 440 Powered ’69 GTX for $20K!
Here’s a 1969 Plymouth GTX that is powered by a 440 with an Edelbrock 4 barrel carb and Torker intake. The engine starts easily, idles well, and runs strong. The 727 shifts hard like it should. The tall rear end makes this car very streetable and a nice cruiser.
The engine was rebuilt shortly after 2005, and it has had about 500 miles put on it since. This is a genuine GTX with a clean PA title. It is not numbers matching and the fender tag is missing.
The interior is ok for the vintage, but it’s not show condition. The repro vinyl seats are soft with no tears or cracks. The repro carpets are clean. The factory AC was removed before I got it, but I have the original evaporator parts and vent outlets. I do not have the compressor or condenser. The odometer shows 52,162 but the car is titled as mileage exempt. The right turn indicator doesn’t return to center on its own. The trunk lock works fine, but the door locks are not connected. The rear end is a Chrysler 8-3/4 and the tires are 255/60R15 all around.
This car includes most of its original wiring, gauges, and controls. The fuel gauge and speedometer seem to work correctly. The ammeter does not move. All of this is original equipment. The aftermarket tach and radio of course work properly.
The repro rims have started to rust. There is also a small rust pop near the driver door on the rear quarter, and a shallow ding 2/3 back on the driver rear quarter. There is no rust on the underside. The glass is solid with no gouges or chips. The GTX-specific trim is all present and clean. It has been garage kept since 2007. This car will transfer with antique tags to a PA buyer if interested.
This is a fun 45 year old car that will put a smile on your face and get people looking!
