Today’s Car: ’74 AMC Javelin – The Pro-Touring Car NO ONE Else Will Have!

Up for sale is my 1974 AMC Javelin (AMX Clone) with 300 miles since it’s been back on the road. I’ve owned this car for 18 years.

**Just added a new 3″ chromel steel driveshaft and Optima yellow top battery

Engine: Rebuilt 0.030 over 401 with forged speed pro pistons, Edelbrock aluminum heads, Comp Cams 280H camshaft, Harland Sharp 1.6 roller rockers, Edelbrock air gap aluminum intake, new timing chain. Bulltear matched cam gears, Mallory HEI ignition, Bulltear timing cover and tri-flo oil plate, Milodon oil pan with remote oil filters, hardend pushrods, aluminum water pump, aluminum sheet metal valve covers, summit 750 carb. Aluminum radiator with twin electric fans.

Transmission: Rebuilt (with receipt ) Close ratio manual 4 speed. New centerforce clutch, resurfaced flywheel and new pilot/throwout bearing. Posi rear with 3.15 gears. I will include a set of 4.11 gears with the sale.

Wheels/Brakes: Front 13 inch Aerospace engineering rotors and aluminum calipers, Stainless steel brake lines, wilwood master cylinder with factory brake booster. Vintage wheel works 17 inch wheels: 17×8 front with 245 Nitto tires and rear has massive 17×11 wheels with 315 Nitto tires that tuck nicely under the fenders.

Suspension: Polyurethane bushings, Addco front sway bar, WSC coilover front suspension, lowered all the way around.

Exhaust: Jet coated headman headers to 2.5 inch exhaust aluminized pipe and Flotech Terminator mufflers.

Color of the car is a contemporary looking Porsche “Brankuppfer.” In PPG base/clear. I added all the AMX parts along the way to include a functional (full time) cowl induction hood, front spoiler with 1 inch added to the length, NOS AMX grill tub and screen and shaved rear spoiler with trunk solenoid. Interior is clean with a custom setup autometer gauge array. Wiring is new by EZ wiring with dry cell battery/starter solenoid relocated to the trunk. car has Fat-Mat sound deadener. This car was built stripped down to the bare minimums to save weight. It is essentially a bare car with a big engine, a four speed and some suspension/brake upgrades and nothing else. The car could always use some fine tuning or changes, but it drives wonderful down the road with absolutely no problems.
