FEATURE INTERVIEW:
2025 RoadKill Nights Special!
This special bonus episode of The Muscle Car Place comes to you live once again from the streets of Pontiac! Our “man on the street” reporter, Scotty Stap, was on-site for drag racing annual RoadKill Nights event presented by Dodge. This years event almost did not happen but Dodge came to the rescue and said we have to make this happen. Pontiac responded and said “Let’s do this thing!” and supported it with the full might of the whole city. Woodward was closed down earlier than ever and the street was transformed into a one day only drag strip complete with real grandstands and an announcers booth. Scott was there with microphone in hand recording all of the roaring engines and excited voices from the track.
Finnegan and Freiburger –
The Original Grudge Match Racers
What would a RoadKill event be without the dynamic duo themselves, Finnegan and Freiburger? It was great to catch up with the guys about their recent experiences both individually and together in recent YouTube productions. They especially enjoyed the latest Rotsun episode, road-tripping across the country, and are encouraged by the fan response. They plan to do more in the future—once they can figure out the logistics. They answered questions about hopes and dreams for their channels and
Ashton Munoz –
Dodge Product Manager
Catching up with Ashton is always a highlight of the event. His enthusiasm is infectious, and his excitement for Dodge’s future offerings is encouraging. This year’s interview took place trackside, right next to the VIP trailer, with bursts of drag cars roaring past and grudge match racers making last-minute adjustments for the next day’s shootout it would be hard for anyone to not get excited about the new performance offerings. The new Six Pack Chargers were a major focus, and Ashton was clearly proud of what’s ahead for the brand. He pointed out that getting the power to the ground and utilizing all 550 horsepower is what the all-wheel drive is about. It is more drivable and really gets it down the track. Scott also asked him about the pick your own color option in the new vehicles and wondered how they were able to do this. Ashton said they actually send the car out to be hand painted and massaged to a show car finish in your exact color combination.
Mike Copeland –
The Original Grudge Match Car Builder
Mike has been part of RoadKill Nights since before day one. His shop, Diversified Performance, installed a HEMI into General Mayhem at a time when it was almost unheard of, and gave it to the RoadKill crew to race in the very first grudge match at the Silverdome in Pontiac. Since then, he’s been involved in every event, overseeing drag racing tech inspection and staging—from the pits to the starting line he is there watching. Mike shared stories from the early days and how this year’s event came together. He loves the fact that the muscle car community is just a bunch of gear heads that are just regular people no matter who they are. We all have a common connection, and that is cars!
Chris Coberg –
DSR Performance Engines
Sometimes you just happen to sit down next to some interesting people and Chris Coberg was one of them. He was on site supporting some of the engines he built that were both on the track racing and in the sales booth looking pretty. DSR Performance stands out as a Direct Connection supplier, offering an impressive range of high-powered crate engines featured in their catalog. Chris enthusiastically shared insights into DSR’s latest engine programs and their significant impact on high-performance racing. He also highlighted DSR’s extensive on-site machining capabilities, emphasizing their commitment to creating high-quality, high-performance engine packages for any occasion. Every year, Carlisle Events puts on the Carlisle Chrysler Nationals, and every year, Ed Buczeskie pushes to make it bigger and better than before. It is his goal in life to always be pushing forward and making bigger better experiences for the show attendees. During the 2025 show, he hosted a panel of Chrysler wing-car engineers (listen in at episode 615) to discuss the early days of designing and refining the 1969 Dodge Daytona. If you like stories of NASCAR racing and development in its heyday this is a must listen. Ed is already working on having more content like this next year plus more. Ed’s likes to showcase key periods in automotive history and to make each event memorable for all who attend. There is also a survivor section that is growing and a great swap meet.
Dallas Picks Up Win #4 at Hawkeye Downs!
I couldn’t be prouder to share that Dallas brought home Win #4 at Hawkeye Downs in Legends racing! Watching him wheel that car with confidence, patience, and grit—then seal the deal when it counted—was something special.
This one wasn’t just about speed. It was about racecraft: making smart moves in traffic, staying calm on restarts, and executing laps like a pro. The team worked hard, the car was dialed, and Dallas delivered.
Huge thanks to everyone who’s believed in him, turned wrenches, offered advice, or just cheered from the stands. Nights like this don’t happen alone. We’re grateful for the support and excited for what’s next.
Proud Dad moment? Absolutely. On to the next green flag.
