Tom Wopat is here! With our man Corndog gone this week (to do “parenting” stuff) we knew we had to do something big….so we replaced him with Dukes of Hazzard legend Tom Wopat! Well….actually, we after last week’s show we realized that, like Corndog, Tom’s favorite seasons of the Dukes dated back to Season 1 as well for most of the same reasons. So, it seemed only fitting to replay his one and only appearance on our show from 2019 (Episode 102). Tom went from being a farm-kid in Wisconsin dreaming of playing for the Green Bay Packers, to being a lead on Broadway, becoming Luke Duke, and back to Broadway. There’s something for everyone in here – and plenty of Dukes insight as well!

He falls in love with her too, but knows that it’s gonna be hard to change his ways and settle down. But wait… ole girl’s ex-boyfriend followed her into town and doesn’t want to see the new relationship flourish! So local wild boy steps in to protect ole girl and save her honor. They kiss… tell each other how much they love each other…… and then she skips town, never to be seen or heard of again”.

This week marks the end of the second phase of our sister show “The Kibbe and Friends Show” where we reviewed the final episode of all 7 seasons of The Dukes of Hazzard. Since Mike helped it all begin, I asked him on to celebrate hitting the big milestone. Dukes Review: Rob’s Summary…I was in 5th grade when this episode originally aired. I sadly didn’t understand it all coming to an end at that time as a kid, and now as a near 50 year old adult it seems just as hard but yet totally for different reasons. For the last six and a half years we have made a show about a show, and I for one have loved it! Anyway, enough with the sappiness. This is the final episode of the Dukes, John Schneider finally gets to write and direct something…..my High School Nova reappears one last time….and the General Lee actually gets hurt – from, a jump! The stunts are grossly limited as you’d expect from a cancelled show, but nonetheless the plot must go on. So…here’s the plot: there’s a Hazzard County talent show at the Boar’s Nest and Rosco has a magician’s act that supposedly makes Boss disappear. But when Boss actually gets kidnapped the Dukes must rescue him from two stone cold killers….so that Boss can get back in time to rescue Roscoe’s broken heart.

Movie Review: Big government and big business used big media to crush the little man who was just trying to build a better mousetrap of a car! That’s right, our beloved Big 3 all agreed on something – and that something was getting their corrupt state senator to smoosh the competition of Preston Tucker for daring to want to offer a high speed, disc brake, seat belt equipped new car that could really move. I’m betting Elon Musk watched this movie, took notes on what NOT to do, then launched a car company without getting killed. That’s all tongue in cheek of course (hopefully)!
This is a movie that will inspire you, intrigue you, and make you want to learn more about the Tucker Automobile….but definitely the man who gave it name. It’ll also make you want to smoke, drink whiskey, and wear suits with fedoras. I don’t know how historically accurate it was in truth but let’s assume that it was in the ballpark. Sure made for a good movie!

Dukes Review: Orson Wells broadcast War of the World on the radio in 1938….then in the 1960’s Star Trek led to Star Wars in the 1970’s which led to ET in the early 80’s….and finally that led to this. Let’s get it over with. I know that I have been dreading this episode since we debuted this show in 2016….and I am betting that when the script for this episode leaked to the Warner Brother brass that they cancelled the series it before they even filmed this episode. That said, there’s too much negativity in this world as it is so let’s put on a happy face and enjoy what’s good!
First, there are no miniatures used in this episode for stunts (they rely on B-roll for jump footage). There are outstanding interior shots of the General Lee that will make us excited once again for tracking down the Forever Young soundstage Charger. There’s toe-tapping alien music music with a country twang. This might be the first – and only episode with graphical special effects. The power of local radio – and the local radioman standing at his post to deliver the news people need to know is displayed proudly in this episode. But what you don’t know is, this episode was the audition tape that John Schneider sent into the producers of Smallville….because this episode featured John Schneider – hiding an alien that can shoot lasers from his eyeballs – in a charming farmhouse.

Dukes Review: Hughie Hogg returns with a fake Genie, a fake Magic Lamp, and a scorching case of hemorrhoids (we assume). This is a dumb episode, and for a series that started out with RV’s full of hookers being driven over county lines that became a family friendly show with a magic car, that then became a joke with imposter Dukes cousins, that then tried to put the Dream Team back together with a family friendly focus, it’s nice to end the series with a return of Hughie Hogg and his original two henchman. Again it’s dumb. Boss Hogg thinks that there is a genie in his office. A real genie. That’s all you need to know. And while there are miniature stunt….at least it isn’t of a jumping General Lee. And at the very end….the Dukes risk their lives to save the bad guy, and that’s a lesson from the Good Book any way you slice it.

Movie Review: This is the coming of age tale of Lightning McQueen, the uber talented yet uber cocky up and coming race car in the Cars universe. You know the story just as well as we do so we’ll spare you the standard details. Basically, this is the tale of a universe where cars are people, racing is the national past-time, and Route 66 is rediscovered. The list of voice talent is outstanding and is helmed by Owen Wilson, Paul Newman, and Larry the Cable Guy. It’ll make you laugh, cry, and wish you were what you always really wanted to be in life…..a car! This is the first of the Cars trilogy of movies, but in our humble opinions…it’s the best.

Dukes Review: This episode features my high school Nova, a classic voice over actor, and no miniature GL jumps. No GL jumps at all in fact, not even recycled real ones. That’s probably a good thing, because while this episode wasn’t remarkable, it wasn’t offensive. Boss Hogg gets caught by people doing to him what he’s always done to others; he got robbed with no insurance to protect him. And, he recognized that the Dukes were innocent in the predicament…but he still used them to solve his problem, because he knew Rosco was too dumb to solve it himself. The bad guy lead girl actress is the former wife of Beach Boy and Two Lane Blacktop Star Dennis Wilwon…..which did not help her acting skills. A helicopter is involved, there’s a little bit of miniature stuff, but again…..no GL jumps, and that means no miniature GL jumps. This is like when your kids comes home from school with a report card full of C’s and a note from the teacher that said he didn’t get in a fight today. He just sat there. And that’s good enough for me.
